Sounds good!

I prefer that the hands oppose each other, and that the grip supports the type of stroke that you are trying to produce.

For a shoulders oriented stroke, I like what you are doing - also try to keep the hands at or about the same level on the grip.

I think Nicklaus did great with it!

Self,

I would want to analyse his mental side, his speed control, his aiming routines, head position, reading skills, and ....did I say mental side?? Before I talked about his piston stroke.

Bottom line, he hit it where he aimed, I suspect, with great speed, and was a great putter.

same level on the grip.
not sure what you mean....on top of grip hands rotated outward a bit?

Makes sense...do you have any practice drills/routines that may help?
Also..what is the best way to check your alignment?

Thanks
To check putter alignment I bought a radio shack laser and then cut down and stuck a dental mirror to the face of the putter. Laser reflects back on cardboard to reveal putter alignment. Of the 30 or so that have tried it at my house(poker parties with golf buddies) maybe 5 were on it from 10 feet.

If you really want to improve putting do like I did and build a putting green for the garage.4X12 feet of putting heaven. You would be surprised how much easier 10 footers are after a few thousand putts every winter:)

Shortgamer,

I like your set up!

What went into the building of it? Costs? Materials?

I would prefer something a bit more circular, to take away any biases in aiming, but you've got the right idea.

What do you like to work on with your putting, apart from holing 1000 ten footers in a row?

I made the holes offset so that I could putt at angles to eliminate aiming biases. I don't remember the cost as it was a few years ago but I would say under a hundred bucks. It's built on a 2X6 frame to accommodate the regulation cups(oh yeah those were about 40 bucks). One thing I will say is that it very heavy and hard to move. For the carpet I actually carried my putter and a ball into Lowes and rolled out and putted on carpet until I found the one I wanted. What do I work on-well for the first winter I just worked on setup and what fit my body and style. I use a belly putter anchored left of center with my eyes behind the ball but straight down the target line. Anymore I just putt and putt and putt. One thing I am conscious of is that the stoke is always longer than the backstoke no matter how short the putt. I always try to accelerate through the ball.

Very nice setup, SG.

I would like to turn my entire basement into a putting green with recessed cups... Ya see why I can't get married! I'm even thinking about a small natural green to practice firing at pins from about 30yards....

Like the setup..where do you play in columbus? I love Otter Creek...I use to live in Madison Indiana.

I know that brian and jacobs like the hands forward (leading) in the putting stroke.

I tell you what is working great for me. I use left hand low and use the back of my right hand to push back the grass(very low) and and when you hit up on the ball with your right hand it rolls perfect, try it....joe

Yeah, I'm a member at Otter. Cart boy in the summer, washed dishes in the winter as a kid. Probably play there the rest of my life.
Tong- yes it's fast but so are the homecourse greens.

My father built a green in the backyard that you can hit from as far back as 170. You can't putt on it because it's the same grass as the yard but it's round and elevated so it looks just like a green from 170. Pin is in the middle.

never had much success with LHL...great on short ones but my distance control was sadly lacking...probably from lack of practice! I wish I would have started that way as a kid. I try to get the same feel as you except I push it back low with the last 3 fingers of my left hand.
