OMFG. Again? The guy is closing in on three in a row, against the toughest fields, one of which is a major, and you still THINK you have freakin' CLUE about what he does or is doing with HIS golf swing? Incredulous.

Some of you guys would have sat around the water cooler back in '45 trying to figure out why Byron Nelson wasn't more consistent. I'm calling a John Stossel on this one.

I think Tiger's last 4 rounds have been some of the best ball striking I've seen from him. Maybe he just needed some time to get a feel for his rebuilt knee and the effect this had on his latest swing changes.

I think lia has a valid point.

Sure he does, but WHY?????????? And don't give me a stat, because in the PGA he is playing GREAT and will probably win. I want the WHOLE picture, it's why I brought up his schedule last week. Tiger can make most anything work..he's an athlete. Anyone that argues that hand eye coordination and some athletic ability doesn't matter is just wrong. My question is WHY??and WHY right now, and not back a few weeks ago when Tiger missed the cut at the OPEN. again WHY?

I ask this humbly, because I have no clue..help me understand please.

Vj-

Tiger said after he won the '97 Master's........."I just timed it well".......IMO, this is saying I timed the flip well.

and as we all know, when people time it well you can play pretty good golf. and when it isnt timed so well, you miss cuts.

I am in NO way saying tiger flips it. Just saying if the true mechanics are 100%,, timing may/does play a bigger role. hell he hit 12/14 fairways thurs......so something is there that was not at turnberry.

Needham,

Timing is important in any swing, sorry to burst your bubble, but neither you or I are qualified to answer my question. I will grill Brian mercilously on this on the course on Monday and hopefully he can answer my question. I won't let you know what he says, the bargain of a lesson with Brian:)

you do not see my point, or at worst you dont agree. the tiger quote says it all. I guess I just cant "type" my point across

I see your very basic point. You say, timing is the answer, is what you are saying, otherwise why bring it up. I'm asking Why?? Sure timing is a component to the answer, but not THE answer. Tiger plays golf in very high pressure situations all of the time and you have no clue what he is thinking or trying to do, unless you understand what he is thinking..meaning you have to talk to TIGER to understand this. YOU are not getting it my friend. get it now.

yes it is a very basic point, all that is golf does not have to be complicated. Tiger said after the 97 Master's, and right now he is in the same boat.

ME, for my swing. I do not want timing. Timing speeds up and slows down under pressure. I work hard on pivot and mechanics, while trying to take out timing, and ADDING automation to the motion. I know you disagree with me on this and really do not want to reopen the debate.

But I do know, timing is NOT the answer. Look at the 99-01 season, I dont care who you are, you can not keep a swing "timed" for 2 years.

You are correct, I do not know what Tiger is thinking, nor do I care.

Do not tell me what I do and don't get. I am trying to be gentle here, as I know I can be brash, plus I like you, you add to the discuss and debate. You really have no idea what I know about the swing contained in the game. Nor do you know what I know about the game itself, so do not tell me what I get.

I have a membership full of people just like you, unless I have you totally wrong. AND I DO HOPE YOU CORRECT ME IF I AM WRONG.
Just like my membership, you have all the questions, yet no way to find the answer.
NO disrespect intened, I wish I knew your background, handicapp, and how long you have been playing, taking lessons and I could talk to you much more efficently. Cause we have a failure to understand one another and really prefer not to argue, and like debating different views.

ME:
playing since I was 10 (32 now and have had 2- 4year layoffs from the game.
take lessons when I want/need them. before tournaments, and when I really want to "work" on my game. wanting to play to a higher level at this point and time.
handy= 2.4 on a hard course 74.8/143
background- Golf Course Super for 10+ years

I don't want this to get stupid. It is not about me and you, it's about the OPs question and questions revolving around that. Sense you asked. I started playing golf in November, although some idiots here like to say I'm full of it. Lately, I have been shooting in the 80's, depending on where I play and from what tees. My lowest round is 75 and my lowest round for 9 is 37. Ill get alot better.

On the issue. Its really hard to say what is the "cure for the best player the world has ever seen. This is why I said you and I cannot say what is "wrong" with his swing, or "help" him. There are alot of things that go into this and I think unless you work with Tiger exclusively 1on1 you can't help him, or diagnose his issues. Golf is hard and it is easy to sit back and be an armchair quarterback. I stand by what I have said earlier.

Thats awesome man! I hope you get where you want to go.

This is where I think you have misunderstood me. I do not want to cure Eldrick, or play guru with him. I could care less, I have my own swing issues.

But I suppose in simple terms.
The reason he did not win the Us Open= he did not putt good
The reason he MC at Turnberry= he did not have enough control of his swing
The reason he wins tomorrow= he has a complete game this week

reason for the above(bad putting, bad control, good game)?, I have no idea.

Ok. Sorry for me being too overbearing or overzealous. I took your rhythm comment too literally. I apologize and I'll try and do better.
