There seems to be a correlation between outward hand path and extension.
Generally speaking yes but a golfer can still make all sorts of compensations like looping the hands back behind him while early extending.
Also note than early extension does not always result in a huge loss of the tushline.One can still maintain the tushline while early extending by having the head fall away from the ball during the downswing.VJ Singh is a good example of this move.Singh is an early extender but you can't really say he has an overly outward hand path.
