tee it high to let it fly.... not so much, thoughts from Tour Championship

not sure, we got there early, around 10:00, so we could catch guys warming up. couple of other observations.

pros don't really work the ball a ton their draws and fades aren't really that noticable.the idea of not short siding yourself, doesn't apply to pros. I was shocked at how many short side misses I saw. Seems they are so confident in their short games, they are not afraid to fire right at pins, regardless of position.
damn they hit it high.

Noticed the same thing at the Barclay's and I'm still amazed. While watching the tv coverage this weekend it seemed like the guys played big fades/draws based on the announcers comments, but they certainly do not.

I've been experimenting with tee height, and it seems, for me anyway, that when I tee the ball with only about a 1/4 of it above the face, I actually hit it a little more boring, little lower, but it flies further and straighter. Maybe I'm hitting it on the way down, but whatever, it is working for the time being.

I've experienced the same thing... if I need to absolutely be in the fairway, I will tee it a bit lower for sure. In the summer time when the ground is firm, I don't lose much distance, but like Brian said, I'm sure in softer conditions I'll lose 20ish yards.

KJ Choi's head is so big.

KJ says it will still fit in your mouth.

'Fore you get too upset, I was only joking and you rather set yourself up for that punchline.
