Sitting on my porch having the Sunday morning cigar, watching Brian, priceless. Brian you are the bomb. Thanks so much for always sharing with us.

Played today thinking only about the stuff in this video. Hit the driver really well. Had a tougher time with irons trusting it. After my round I hit some balls and was really surprised how easy it is to aim a straight shot.....go figure.

Brian,
Great video, for someone who cannot afford your little orange friend Trackman, what do u think of flightscope? Did you and Mike Jacobs do a comparison while you were up at Rock Hill?

For folks that haven't had the pleasure of visiting this site, this is the most important golf video ever. Bar None.

As someone who has spent his entire golfing life watching a perfectly struck draw start just right of the pin and end up off the green left, I echo Brian's wish that I had known this 20 years ago. Better late than never. Imagine how good our children will be empowered with this knowledge.

Really great video - if anything it may be too good! If the guys at Golf Channel understand how great it is and how poor some of their current output is ...they may may fear for their own jobs and keep Brian out...

The weak side of human nature that fails to promote people who might be better than you...

Hope that you get the job, Brian. A polished version of this youtube would be a great free intro...

Then charge an appropriate amount for the 5 "how to" DVDs..."How to alter my HSP"...."How to alter my angle of attack"..."how to change my low point"....

Very good video. Explained the ins and outs of the D-plane perfectly. It's amazing how well golfers will be able to fix themselves armed with this knowledge, especially good players.

Kids growing up with this kind of stuff are going to absolutely be able to shred golf courses. In 15 years 59's will occur at a much higher rate...at least one every month or so on Tour.

I almost feel bad getting such important information for free, but the keyword is almost lol! Thanks Brian that definetly helped me completely understand the d-plane and how to hit straight shots and how the curve the ball

I could have charged for this video, but I feel like the material is TOO important for the good of golf.

As the sort of acknowledged "expert" on the subject among full-time teachers, It was my duty.
Amen to that. This may have been the most illustrative lesson I've ever had in my life. Your incorporation of teaching aids (drawn lines, sticks, plane board, etc.) and utilization of multiple camera angles was so well done. Thank you for your service in helping us all further our understanding.

Brian, great job! Before this video, I was so confused about the D plane. TGC would be lucky to have you. Thank you for this wonderful gift.

I absolutly agree with this.

Brian:

As much as I feel I owe you something for the explanation, since I'm still out of work I will just accept your gift for now!!!!

So, wait a minute Brian. When I hit a solid 7-iron, what it feels like with all that nice compression one desires, and I hook or draw it 15 yards of the stick, it could be I have a too steep attack angle? Sort of? I'm not saying it must be why I draw it too much, but... I might trying shallowing it all out?

Or...

Am I not getting it at all?

Might this also be the phenomenon, when I sometimes try to hit a faded driver, I hit it straighter then ever, right into woods. And long.

Aha!

Had a moment when watching this latest Manzella Media Release.

I realise now, when hitting down, the difference between your plane line and the clubface must be greater to achieve the same amount of fade as draw. I don't hit down all that much but this is good stuff.

I've been having some success hitting measured fades lately but not draws. Maybe somehow my hands/eyes have known I've been set up with too much difference for the amount of draw I want and in an attempt to avoid hooking it they are somehow causing the straight pushes and flips I've been experiencing. Something to try on the range anyway.

Open Question.
I want to start hitting up on the driver, any tips on how I can train myself to keep the clubface open to my plane line into the upswing? I suppose you can just grip it open rather than feel like your holding it open into impact.. making a note to try that next range session.

Maybe explain what you are trying to do.,

For driver, if you want a straight shot, your plane line is off to the right, and the face aimed at your actual target, so that means it's CLOSED to your planeline.

Unless you are trying for something else.

I have couple of observations, and questions. I loved the video and have watched it 3 times.
This question came to me during my first viewing.

At one point Brian says something like this. If I'm playing for a score, I hit a fade. So my question
is why would you play golf if you weren't playing for a score? In other words, this hints that, at least,
for Brian's game, he doesn't use the hit up on the driver technique. Does this mean that hitting up is
less accurate? Is it harder to do? Next question.

Brian cites a 185 carry with 6 degree downward angle of attack, and I think 228 with a 5-6 degree upward
angle of attack and says 30 to 40 yard distance pickup. He points out the 6 degree down is abnormal.
So if instead of 6 down we use -1 or 0, then the distance pickup would be much less than 30 - 40 yards.

Observations. So I watch the video and proceed to go out and try to do the hit up thing. Of course with no
Trackman it's a lot of guess work, and any conclusions are based on ball flight. I must have hit 150 drives.
For me, it's very tough to do. No consistency. I was tired ( 94 degrees), and chatting with a friend. I told him how badly I had performed and told him I was hitting 4 more drives with an emphasis on no analytical thoughts. Result? All 4 striped down the center. Totally relaxed and rythmical swings.

Played my little league tournament the next day. Driver consistency sucked. Think I wore myself out the day
before. Think I won't pick up a club before the event on Thursday.

Unless you have a lot of time devoted to making a change (and access to a trackman), the theory you chose on the last 4 shots is probably the most optimum.
