The move to strike the ball is an inward pull from the left and FATS from the right

This is a quote from Kevin's recent post...the rest of that thread is discussing Aimpoint, but I I thought this comment deserved its own thread.

I assume that it means "The move to strike the ball is an inward pull from the left [hand/arm] and FATS [force against the shaft] from the [right hand/arm]?

I assume that the inward pull from the left is about going normal?

I think so. I believe it's a perfect description of how to "rotate the coupling point."

First off thanks for explaining the FATS acronym. Explaining acronyms tend to include more people into the discussion. :) Before my elbow tendonosis side-lined me a few months ago I was having the best ball striking in a long time.

I attribute this epiphany to using my right index trigger finger as my key to apply Force Against The Shaft.

I think it makes rotation of the coupling point a result of a good arm swing rather than trying to just rotate the hands which for me leads to tugging.

For me "pullling" of the left arm and hand was confusing and, taken literally, impossible to do. Michael Jacobs just posted a video on his site that cleared things up for me. pelvic/side bend According to MJ his work with KVest shows that on the downswing near impact the left hip rises, the back straightens and this provides the "normal" force. If I interpret correctly this means that no pulling of the arms/hands independent of the pelvis/back move is required. But I could be wrong and MJ may want to comment.

drew, I cant remember where or when I read it, but somewhere Brian wrote if you aren't using much "jump" to go normall you can give a little assistance with a little yank towards you with your left hand/arm. Which works great around the greens. Once I got used to this feel you better believe I'm jumping out of my shoes to pull the grip towards me on full shots especially driver.

Using the search tool does as well:)

Jeremy,

Physiology is so difficult. I like to pull up around the greens but I think left shoulder up instead of pulling the left arm in. Question is on the full swing can you pull the left arm in without shoulders hips and back supporting the move in some way. What is your experience with your move?

Watched that video and curious to see what's "landmark" about going from lead-side lateral bend to trail-side lateral bend. Perhaps it's the ratios for lateral/pelvis bend to turn?

Inside joke? or are you tryin to be a tool?

No just being serious. I really can't stand it. Grates on my nerves.

By the way conkanen, I would say it to his face. Would you call me a tool to my face? If you did, you would regret it.

Not the first time I've been threatened online lol.

The answer is 1000% Yes btw.

This thread is interesting. Guess I have some more experimenting to do.
As for the acronyms stuff I can see it from both sides. In order to get some of this stuff it takes some time and effort to figure out what the letters mean. Of course if the train stopped every time a new person got on for a full tour it might take longer to get where we are going. Which I feel is somewhere cool. And I am thankful I got on the train when I did.

Be careful messing with a guy from Winnipeg wulsy. Minus 30C winters, enough Mosquitos and black flies to bring down a moose in summer and Neil Young's got your back. :D
