The move to strike the ball is an inward pull from the left and FATS from the right

Kevin, how would you describe the best way to get the hands going on the correct path from the transition?

I realize there are a few different ways, but would like to hear your feel. For example, I have been experimenting with a drop of the hands and "catch the drop" later versus a push the hands away behind me and then route them toward the left front pocket. Curious as to your preference.

Thanks in advance.

I'd say away from the target, then down, then forward then up and in. But different feels on different days certainly work? I let my feels be dictated by my tendencies and ballflight

Well, all good points if this was a major golf magazine, which of course, it isn't.

Whether running a lemonade stand, a fortune 500 company, magazine or an online golf forum, the goal is the same. To grow you need to take care of your customers, and if you don't somebody else will.

I get it if the goal is to stay small and primarily cater to a small group of regulars. However, everything about Manzella says go big. Not sure his mission statement for this forum and personal goal of becoming the best teacher is best served with an inside the bubble strategy.

A business model that relies on a small group of repeat customers is destined to stay small. Just my 2 cents.

Going forward how about if someone explains an acronym without being asked and then someone praises that, you keep your ridicule to yourself. A little less ego and accepting of constructive criticism could be a positive thing.

I think I get what wuls is getting at.

Beta is more like tumble force...shaft getting steeper and the shaft pivoting off plane. Whereas FATS is also off plane but a parallel shift off plane?

Yes, zilla, this parallel aspect of FATS is what I was alluding to.

Yo, Keefer. I don't think you are considering the larger picture of what's going on. Brian (et al) is coming out with a book in the "near" future where all sorts of swing information will be presented. Right now, everything is developmental and pre-press. Little tidbits are released and discussed, and that naturally is for a small segment.

I think your patience will be rewarded.

FATS can be anytime and anywhere during the swing.....alpha, beta, and maybe in some way gamma......in order to twist the shaft along its long axis, you grip the club with some pressure and send "force across the shaft".....

minutia, yes....but ain't it fun

alpha FATS - attempting to look like hogan after a divot
beta FATS - left hand FATS toward the body and right hand FATS away from the body to create tumble
gamma FATS - the fingers wrap around the grip and FATS is everywhere - 360* of it

then we dive into the realm of active FATS and passive FATS (reactionary FATS)

and an active "force normal to the path of the clubhead" - parametric
and a reactionary "force normal to the path of the clubhead" - holding on to the grip as the club accelerates and it attempts to fly out of your hands...

i know o'grady supposedly had things figured out 25 years ago, but this hand path and hand force stuff is tremendoulsy big....thanks, dr. nesbit and dr. miura for explaining things that morad and the golfing machine never got around to

Negative BETA is off plane below plane.

To me that is a PULL IN down by the ball. NOT FATS!

Of course MDF is right, in effect it is.

If all the torques are in effect FATS then the expression in redundant, because we are talking in terms of alpha, beta or gamma. If there is a FATS which is not a torque then it has to be defined or redefined. No?

FATS to me was always the alpha version that was used to attempt to get the look of a flat left wrist well after impact - belly view....

I had to resolve that FATS versus the Miura/Nesbit inward pull (normal to the path of the clubhead)

Am I correct the pull/tug helps reduce the attack angle, therefore get the path closer to zero (assuming face angle is zero) and thereafter better compression when path and face are zero?

I would hardly call what you do "constructive criticism"

There is not a forum anywhere that gives away anywhere near the information that this one does. I will admit that it takes some time to learn the acronyms and the vernacular around here. It is easier to understand a lot of the stuff when you have taken a lesson from one or two of the instructors and bought and watched a couple of the videos. A little curiosity goes a long way.

Hey all I did was credit someone for explaining an acronym. You took exception and had to chime in with some condescending remark. I call you out on it and you start a pissing contest. I'll let you have the last word bubbleboy.

Here is a video explanation of the acronym "JT".

And to be fair to the theme I think he was trying to make, I will try not to use acronyms (I don't much anyway) as much anymore.
