Hey Brian, does the fact that Tiger played well again on two rounds on a course he knows better than most of the others who beat him or shot something similar means its still hangin on by a thread? ;)

I think Tiger hit one particular shot as he truly intended on the back nine - the 6-iron from 207 yards iron to five feet on to the 15th green (where he missed the eagle putt). The way he hit it perfectly, and just started walking up to the green - with no doubt in his mind, no shouting at the ball, no 'bite' or 'go' - was very impressive indeed.

That is the future for Tiger. I think he is starting to "trust it".

My opinion (FWIW):

Tiger will be fine, but the "new" era of top-level golf is being played on big golf courses (Augusta, Whistling Straits, etc.), where a limited pivot won't be as effective. You have to be able to hit a high shot into a 500 yard par 4 (like Tiger's 6 iron), or it's not going to be a fair fight. Once in a while, softer conditions may bring shorter hitters into the mix but, if a course plays as it's supposed to, we likely won't see too many Mike Weir's and Zach Johnson's winning majors.

Good point!

Do y'all think this is the case with Congressional? I sure hope that it doesn't rain there and that it plays hard and fast. But even if it plays softer, I'm not sure that any short hitters will stand a chance.

I'm not too familiar with Congressional, so I'll abstain from an opinion here.

Are you saying people with their right and left arms very much connected through the swing, like Hogan?

or guys will have to move well off the ball?

Can you use one but not the other? Does it have to be both? You show guys who have high backswing top positions, yet none of them move much off the ball.

I think you wrong on both accounts. There will be guys who are more centered that also win, guys that have connection that win. I have no clue why there is the affirmation that it somehow is dead. There are just too many ways to win in this game, to many swing variations. But Dead!

Only if the Hogan and Sergio model is start left, lean more left, and go farther left with your weight and do this all with a steep shoulder turn.

Thats not what he said.

You just changed the parameters. He said it was the "higher left arm".
