That's crazy how unaware he was about the D-plane and trackman numbers last year. That info has been on this website free for the masses for years.

It goes to show us how great Tiger (and other greats) was without Trackman. I believe the "tide" of good players who can become great is rising because of Trackman. Still, Tiger had to have some ungodly hand eye coordination with the type of Trackman numbers I've heard he has (as well as distance control and putting prowess).

I don't think he said that, he said he wouldn't have known not all of it. His old instructor was behind the times, the new one is more updated.

If he has no "feels" to relate these "numbers" to, it is useless. He still has to produce the numbers when he feels they are necessary.

To feel or not to feel... that is the question?!

They say that love and the golfswing is blind... that's why it's done with "feel" ...

I said numerous times on this site over the past couple years that Tiger had no idea how ball flight actually worked and the best indication of that is when he would POUND DOWN on an iron or specifically 3 wood off tee and be SUPER SURPRISED when the ball went way left.

Guys,
Have to admit its really cool to be working on the same things in our swings, That IMO the best golfer that I've ever seen is.... kinda makes me feel like I can do it!!! Get better at this game that is. The funny thought is that we knew more about ball flight than the best player in the world for the last two years or so ... This site is awesome!!!! We are so lucky to get this info for free and we even get help making sense of it all.

I know the light bulbs are going off in TW's head every night, the way to hit shots armed with Trackman , Now for all the folks that dont think that he will be as good, yeah something maybe lost in the way of golfers being "so called scared"

But I would be worried that the MOST talented golfer has now been armed with KNOWLEDGE of whats really going on with his ball flight. All the ball really knows is what the club is doing and now he understands or is learning to understand( Club face , HSP. AOA, spin loft).

Those guys on tour better watch out because the Big Cat is coming armed with Knowledge and Talent!!! I know he will get even better because the knowledge has made many of us better and I dont have his golfing talent!! Just my take.

The more Tiger starts talking about it the more other pros are likely to follow. The more pros using Trackman and talking about it, the more the instruction biz will have to wise up if they want to keep teaching.

Good stuff, and it shows how much Brian and his team is advancing golf instruction.

Makes me proud to be a student of the Manzella Academy.

Yup.....I also appreciate the effort the Manzella academy puts forth and the scientific research they pass along onto the forum members. Thanks, Matt.

I remeber BManz saying in a thread post a while back that in 2 years trackman would be lined up across the driving range at tour events.
I went to three events this season. ( 2 PGA ) (1 Nation wide event) I saw 3 trackman systems set up on the range thats it.

A few guys where using them so I asked them what were they doing and they all came back and said using it for club fitting.
I know that thats part of it but to me if you could make sense of the numbers and the corresponding pages on the system and the data then thats what I would be using it for.

I know every time that our club has a demo day and the company Reps come out and they have TM or FS I use it and I ask for the othere pages so that I can know what I am doing and work on getting better.

The funny thing is when they ask what or how do you know this info ....I just smile and think that Bmanz and his guys are way out in front of alot of folks in the golfing world. My buddy has had one for a long long time and to me I think he isnt using the system fully to help his students... I even told him as much. but thats another convo....

Isn't this an example of the cruelty of sport?

When an athlete's skills are at their sharpest, they know the least about their craft. Yet they can still perform at extraordinary levels.

When an athlete's knowledge is at their highest, they have a diminished level of skill. They understand at a higher level than they perform.

"If only I knew 10 years ago what I know now..." is a phrase uttered by EVERY athlete.

"If only I knew 10 years ago what I know now..." is a phrase uttered by EVERY athlete.
...AND every lad who struggled to get a date in high school...!! (not that I ever struggled......no, really......honestly!!)
At least we have the consolation of knowing we have the most cutting-edge swing knowledge at our fingertips, courtesy of this site.

Foley is getting credit as some kind of TrackMan guru now. But the fact is, when he first started working with Tiger he didn't own a TM. He couldn't have passed a basic D Plane/TrackMan exam at that time. Certainly, he knows more now. But the fact remains, as I have said before, Tiger's working with a guy who's learning stuff as he goes that other teachers, like Brian, have known for a few years now.

In terms of Trackman I would agree with this statement, Foley has been on a "Trackman" learning curve.
