...Luke Donald. Short (20 yards behind McIlroy and just 7 ahead of Donald) and crooked (13 of 28 fairways, driving half the time with a 3-wood; only Mike Weir hit fewer). But, he is hitting it close with the irons and and has a great short-game. Good enough to be number 3 in world, but can anyone dominate with that kind of game? Why does Tiger want to go in this direction?

Dang it, Westy. Why couldn't you have been an NBA scout 15 years ago? You could've had me go as a high first rounder. Because in practice, with no one guarding me, I was unstoppable - was the best scorer you have ever seen.:rolleyes:

The fact that tiger is shorter and straighter helps his game, so why not? I think that tiger can dominate with luke donald's length {as long as the rest of his game keeps going}

He is hitting a lot of three woods, so his driving distance is off. He can still hit it well over 300 yards.

Tiger will improve with the Driver, but if he can hit his 3 wood and hit irons like he did yesterday he'll beat everybody.

Tiger is just so talented, his swing looks like a lurch followed by a convulsion compared to his 2000 swing, we will see how it holds up on the weekend.

Is no one even mildly concerned that he's missing fairways both ways with his 3-wood and his chipping technique behind the 17th green looked a little Hunter Mahan-ish?

For the record, I am.

Are you comparing Tigers near chip -in on 17 to Hunter's fat chip at the Ryder Cup?

As a matter of fact, I am. Tiger was one of the best pitcher/chippers in the game...sure, let's change that too.

I haven't heard another Top 100 Teacher say that you should swing/release every club in the bag the EXACT same way. There are obvious differences in a simple chip and a 120 mph driver swing. It's ludicrous. His putting stroke didn't need to change either.

True to form he follows up a really nice round with a really mediocre round. He looks like such a mere mortal on the greens now. In fact it looks like he just went down to the PGA Superstore and snagged an off the rack putter (a Cameron of course) that doesn't quite fit him. Looks like the toe is up in the air a bit. Hard to believe they can't find him a putter with the correct lie angle? Or maybe Foley prefers heel heavy divots on the putting stroke. Is he supposed to be a short game expert or do have to swallow the entire Foley-pill if you're gonna work with him?

I guess 14 majors is still a pretty good career.

I thought he is using the new Nike Method putter? I think his lack of practice time has taken a toll on his short game. That bunker shot on 17looked like it barely got out.

I agree with you. I don't think he needed to change anything about his short game. The chip on 18 looked scoopy, like he tried to hit it at the exact low point. He left 5-6 shots out there today with his short game.

SP,

You may be rght..... thought I saw a few red circles on the back of it but I think I was more focused on the high toe at setup. Not that Aoki wasn't a great putter, but it seems like a pretty dramatic departure from the putting form that got him to where he is now.

Bring out the forks...... he's done. ;)
