Tiger is not lucky

Needed birdie on 18, got it.

How anyone can attribute luck to that is an idiot.

Just this year alone (and it's only March...): I guess he got lucky in Dubai when he made birdie on 18; I guess he got lucky against Holmes when he made multiple important putts; I guess he got lucky against Baddeley when he made birdie 18; and I guess some idiot will say he got lucky on 18 today...

I KNEW some Tiger fanatic was just WAITING to make a post like this.

I still stand by what I said in the other threads like this one, and I am not an idiot.

As for my expert analysis on THIS one.......

Absolutely not pure luck. (I could copy/paste this from what I have said 100 times before)

But a super (duper) putt when he absolutely needed it. Which we have of course seen before.

And he absolutely does this type of thing more than anyone else.

I call it like it is.

Definately not luck today, made a fantastic putt when he needed too.

Just interesting how he didn't do it 4 holes in a row like he did some other time ;). hahaha

birdie_man: My post was targeted at morons like yourself. I call it like it is, too.

No you don't.

You call it as you want to see/hear it.

Just like you read our past debates (the ones that are the basis for your thread today) the way you wanted to.

BTW I will NEVER call you a moron. Even if I'm thinking it.

I do not have to now, that's for sure.

Fun thread lia. I have no problem with "spirited debate."

Interesting if that's an implication that that's somehow lucky. That's to say, one putt on one hole, sure, easily dismissed as luck. But four great putts on four holes, uhhh...it doesn't take a brain surgeon...

I watched the whole round--with my own eyes. I call it like I see it. You're in denial about the greatest athlete in sports. Two of the 10 best to ever play this game, Miller and Palmer, were there today, in AMAZEMENT. And you're still a hater. That's why you're a MORON. TWO OF THE TEN BEST EVER--IN AMAZEMENT AND YOU ARE STILL RATIONALIZING!

I don't think it was luck, as much as it was controlled nerves and years of practicing that putt. There was some luck involved as with anything in life but I think his last two shots were just a token of how good he is under pressure. The putt was great but I thought the second shot was even better. The wind picked up and changed directions and he didn't panic, he hit a great golf shot right where he needed too.

The only thing I hated about that ending was that Bryant didn't get to go to a playoff. I hate to root against Tiger but to see someone like Bryant play so well and to do so under Tiger's pressure without choking, I sure wanted to see him get in to a play off.

It was a great second shot. I don't get why people say they hated not seeing a playoff--how about the fact that Tiger stepped up to bury a winning putt! Would a playoff that ended in bogey somehow been better because of an extra hole of play?

I wanted to see a playoff just to see a little more of that exciting shot-for-shot round of golf. In the end, I'm happy with no playoff - I got to watch the last 4 minutes of the Rockets game!

You see...

This is where you are totally missing the boat.

I never before brought up luck except on one stretch of holes. (against JB Holmes) What he did there was still a lot against the odds, even for him. I believe he even said "I was just trying to get it close to the hole."

I didn't call him lucky on this round.

Yet you still say "I watched this entire round with my own eyes...blah blah..."

So did I. But I didn't call him lucky. So what gives.

Maybe you are Elin posting under the user name of "lia41985."

I am not a moron. You better watch your mouth. If you wanna be emotional about this you should go talk to someone else.

This thread is probably gonna get closed.

Tiger has done this sort of thing so many times that...

if he DIDN'T make the putt it would be considered UNlucky.

Exactly Jim.

...

Disagree with stuff all you want. But stuff has to stop getting taken out of context. Seriously.

Once again.....before someone gets all up in arms.............no one has called him lucky on the putt he made MARCH 16, 2008 ON THE LAST HOLE OF THE ARNOLD PALMER INVITATIONAL (someone mark that down) YET.

Here comes everyone against me. :D I don't care.

But seriously..........y'all are creating more of an argument than there really is I think. I know I am pretty much done.

Bryant had as big a chance to win as people get against Tiger. Tiger gave him a shot with that ridiculous 3 putt, then Bryant gave it right back seconds later with his own ridiculous 3 putt that didn't even lip out. Even those journeyman like Bryant are multi-millionaires, they don't deserve anything on the golf course that they don't earn through their play.

You're in denial about the greatest athlete in sports.

Easy on the "greatest athlete" label. Best golfer, absolutely. Most recognizable, probably. Most dominant, I vote for Federer. But in a "sport" that can be played at it's highest level WHILE smoking a cigarette, calling it's best player the "greatest athlete" might be a bit of a stretch.

The greatest athlete in sports???

Dude turn off the TI!

Golf isn't even a sport! Baseball is barely a sport... No contact, no pushing your aerobic or anaerobic threshold... NO SPORT!!!

Golf is slightly more athletic than darts.

Lia you are sooo lucky Birdie overdoses on soy milk... I think that a non-estrogen charged Birdie would have lumberjacked you for running your mouth:)

I see Birdies point about the JB Holmes match. Normally a guy makes at most 1-2 spectacular putts per round, if that, but Mr. Woods went on a 4 hole assault. That kind of performance isn't sustainable by even him, it's variance. He often putts lights out, but not for that long of stretch where he's knocking down 15-20fters like they're 2 footers. Luck NO... variance YES. Greatest putter and shortgame player ever? Most likely

Know what makes tiger so great?...Its that everyone around him stinks. Cant any one ever take a lead (9 strokes) and hold it. There is always 8 to 10 players ahead of him going into the last 2 days of a tournament when tiger starts off bad and lo and behold noone yes noone can shoot a good round and they all back up and there is tiger with 2 back to back good rounds and passes everyone. jmo...joe

give me a sec.....

hang on.....

Nope still don't care, waste of time, energy etc.... go work on your pivots or something and calm the crap down.
