Anything that has an outcome not determined by a judge is a sport.

Gymnastics, Diving, Synchro Swimming, Competitive Cheerleading. None of these are real sports, They are athletic activities, but the outcome is based on someone else's opinion, not their skills and abilities.

"unquestionably the finest athlete in sport"

Disagree-----Michael Phelps, swimmer---absolutely destroying his competition, even swimming events/strokes he barely practices. What he is doing in swimming is the equivalent of Tiger winning tournaments playing playing some of the holes left-handed. Golf is a game. Swimming is a sport.
(Don't get me wrong, I LOVE golf and what Tiger is doing is nothing short of phenomenal. He's one of the few golfers I would actually call an athlete. However, the average PGA Tour player is really not in much better physical condition than his age-equivalent regular civilian who works-out a little)

A real sport utilizes hand-eye coordination. Period. Go jump off the deep end.

so what would it be considered for a blind golfer ;)

I am with birdie on this one, it does not really affect my life one way or the other if people consider it a sport, game, or waste of time.

Tim Rosaforte (Golf World senior writer) in his interview about the Haney Tiger issue says, "this is not like Tiger leaving Butch and going to Hank"..."I hope nobody reads into it that their broken up"

Why?

He’s great for golf, and great for sport, and for now, unquestionably the finest athlete in sport, and far and away the best golfer of his time.

I'd debate Federer is doing everything Tiger is, probably more. He's further ahead of his competition than Tiger i reckon. Only one rival can seriously compete with him at all, and that's at one single tourney. On top of this Fed is almost always on top of his game.

Tennis careers are very short. The average Player peaks at age 27. Age 27 is the culmination of phyiscal and mental skills. After that they begin to slip.
Federer is amazing - he never gets injured. Nadal due to his style of game will have a shorter career. He is already suffering from knee problems.

Nadal isn't suffering. Please--there are enough inaccuracies about golf on this forum, let's not little it with inaccuracies about tennis.

Tom, I'm not talking about inaccuracies from anyone in the Academy or mandrin. I'm talking about from some of the posters that post here--including me. I have a ton to learn. But not about tennis. I see your point about Rosaforte.
