That's to bad, but hopefully he can rest up and finally get back to good health. I guess it just shows how great his performance really was at the open!

Unfortunate, I really hope this doesn't end up being something that is career threatening.

Greatest golfer I have personally ever witnessed.

How do you think the rest of the players feel now knowing that they couldn't beat Tiger with a torn knee ligament and 2 stress fractures!

That golf is a game, and not a sport.

What the Celtics did last night was great! Tiger beating a 45 year old man with a bad back, and bald spot, not so much.

It's funny about how he hurt himself running because i am friend with a few PT's who are avid golfers and we would exchange services (PT for me and lessons for them).

Does anyone remember when Tiger's workout came out sometime last year? When he said he ran between 3-5 miles a day? All of the PTs told me that it was insane and between the running and the stress he puts on his knee from his swing, he would have a very serious knee injury at some point in his career.

I hope Tiger takes a long hard look at his swing and finds a way to putt less stress on that joint, otherwise he won't be healthy enough to break Jack's record.

Maybe our resident Manzella Physical Therapist (sorry i forgot your username) can comment on what my friends told me.

OR! he could quit all this insane physical fitness crap (still take care of himself but not so hardcore) and continue to swing at his leisure.

After what happend at the US Open and the news today about the torn acl/stress fractures, I don't see how it would even be possible for him not to break Nicklaus's major record. He only needs 5 more and will be 33 soon. If he won the US Open with his knee that jacked up, he could win 5 more majors over the next 10 years of so.

yeah, I don't see him wrecking his knee so bad that its going to be career threatening, I think after all of this is said and done, he is going to take a long hard look at either the pressure he is putting on the knee joint in his follow through, or his extreme workout regimen... or both... but he isn't going to let this ruin his career. This is something that he can take precautions to avoid from happening again. As long as he allows that knee to get completely healthy again... Which he is doing, and im sure its going to absolutely kill him to miss 2 majors and the ryder cup (good news for kenny perry) but clearly he has decided this is what he needs to do in order not to do permanent damage.

You are correct, i kinda typed my thoughts too soon. I was thinking more along the lines of how far past his record he could go.
