120 mph swing speed is awsome but don't you need higher to get those distances?

Tiger is around 125 and his driving average is only around 300 yards.

Bubba Watson is around 124 and he averages 313.

It takes 145+ swingspeed to get 400 yard drives.

Tom's 120 mph swing speed is just his "Range Average."

I am pretty sure that the 407-yard drive was 125+, because he was very warmed up, and he went after it.

In the desert, the ball goes pretty far.

And Tiger does NOT hit it far for his swing speed.

Well i won't argue there.Tom looks like he could compete in long driving if he wanted to train for it.

As for Tiger,I honestly don't think the new technology has benefited him more than some other players.I thought he would be averaging 330 yards easy once he switched to graphite. It hasn't happened and I wonder why?

Hits down on the ball with the driver instead of hitting slightly upward.

I can't wait to get to 210. I know how much better and farther I hit it at that weight.

Also, with regards to irons. I am using S-400s, they fit me for X-100s and I picked up a half a club length.

I would highly recommend Cool Clubs in Phoenix to anyone.

What differentiates Cool Clubs from some of the other fitting places you guys have seen? Their website isn't high on detail

Actually it has, however it's a bit more "ball related" but the graphite has helped. When he switched to the new platinum ball a few years ago is when he found a lot of new distance because he wasn't over spinning the ball.

Also tiger launches the ball too low for the spin he puts on the ball (from the stats i've seen of his driver shots) and this limits his carry potential A LOT. He could easily be hitting the ball much further but because as he and many other tour pros have their preferred "ball flight window" he doesn't.

Agreed - the Nike balls are miles behind Pro V1s and Xs in my experience. Pretty sure Tiger could pick up 20 yards just by switching balls if he wanted to.

I mentioned this on the left knee thread, but think it is worth saying again. I love Toms free, fluid seemingly no tension pivot. My 3 favorite swings ever..Tom Bartlett, Jack Nicklaus, Vijay Singh. I think all of these swings are pretty darn similar in terms of power, fluidity and grace.

I may be wrong but I doubt Tiger goes to Dick's to buy his balls. I'm sure there is a big difference with what he's playing and what they are selling to "hacks".

Nice going, I was kidding of course. How do you think your potentiol weight loss will effect your distance, if any? Thanks Tom

No, they are really not. The platinum does spin more than other balls but that is per Tiger's wants to help with working the ball and hitting certain shots. Tiger did pick up 20 yards when he switched to a multi layer ball a few years back and his launch monitor stats say he is not over spinning the ball (unless he plans too) he just launches it too low.
