tour striker training iron

a quick update on my tour striker.Called in at the range on the way home from work with the tour striker and my regular 8 iron.Decided to hit 5 balls with the sriker then 5 with my regular 8 iron. The results were amazing, straight or slight draws with both clubs.Although i think the striker was going further,i think the loft on it might be slightly stonger than my wishon 8 but all in all very impressed.

well i bought one..Went straight to the range on the way home.Felt completely different to my Wishon irons but i was expecting that. The first 5 or 6 shots were really bad but the i started to work out how to strike with it and wow what a differance in ball flight,by the end of the basket i was hitting nice little soft draws about 130 to 140 yards into a medium wind.I cant wait to get back to the range with my regular 8 iron to compare. Thanks to you all with your great advice.

Cheers

Paul

Paul,

where did you buy your tour striker from? I've been looking around and I can only find it online. American golf have it on their website but when I rang my local store they had never even heard of it (for shame!)

Hmm, I called the Warrington store and was told that it wasn't in stock in ANY store! Sounds like the guy was full of BS. Will maybe try calling some other local stores and see what I get. Thanks for the heads up.

Not sure myself on international orders thru the website, but those were two UK guys discussing stores with inventories. I'd like my local super store (USA) to carry them, but haven't seen it though they have many many training aids.

So how exactly does it help? You swing a certain way with the tour striker which produces pure striking and you "learn" keep that same swing when using you regular irons? THanks.

Must have a downward strike with some forward shaft lean to get the ball in the air. The face of the tourstriker iron which strikes the ball is raised from the leading edge and looks intimidating but it will change the way one strikes the ball and transfers to regular clubs.

So you are learning to swing different and that will carry over to the course??? THanks.

How does one know which TS to get? THanks

I wouldn't say different I would say better, more correct and yes it does will carry over to the course. I'm a glutton for punishment and purchased the pro 7 iron and thanks to Bmans never slice again video it took only a couple of swings to further enhance the strike on the ball. Nice!. Which ever one you purchase it will do what its intended to do.

This really does work. When you first hit it the ball will not get off the ground but after a couple of hits you start to hit down with the forward lean and the ball gets airbourne with a penatrating flight.I got the 8 iron as i'm a 20 handicap,i think the 7 iron is for 10 and lower.

I believe I read in a thread (another forum) that the inventor of the tourstriker CM actually said the original design was actually the Pro 7x (harder to hit) model but created easier to hit models for the mainstream public. Based on that alone, I would get the Pro 7x. Either that or the wedge, which is suppose to be really good as well.

It's the inventor's favorites! Why question it!

I've got the Pro 7x. If you're not feeling 100% you'll have a hell of a time getting it going well. Not only do you have to massively lean the shaft forward, you've got to hit center face. I think you get a dimple of leeway with side to side. MUCH harder than the 8 iron version. You really feel how you have to beat down on it if you're coming through too shallow or flipping. Very good tool for learning pure strikes.

The only problem i have with the pure striker is if you prefer to have LESS shaft lean, on purpose. You can still have some forward lean (less than what the pure striker has built in) and still hit the ball really well and play good golf. But to LEARN hitting down and LEARN to shaft lean it's a great tool.

That's my qualm with it. For a stock shot I'm not leading nearly as hard with the handle as I do with the TS. It's fun practice and it keeps you sharp, though.
