Twist Away

When I use the Twist Away position at the Top my left wrist looks very flat on video. A question I have is what Hinge Action is most compatible with this psoition? When I rotate the shaft around the sweet spot I tend to hook the ball. Am I doing something wrong? Or is this for Angled Hinging only?

Does it matter what the club face looks like half way back if one is going to Twist Away at the Top anyway to square everything up before Start-Down?

Now you need to "HIT THE BOX."

If a picture is worth a thousand words you just gave me an encylopedia. Great visuals! Thanks for the quality explanation.

You are welcome!

Hope this helps a lot of golfers....

Tony Lema, George Knudsen, Hale Irwin, Arnold Palmer, Mac O'Grady, Lee Trevino!

....Come on let's twist again, like we did last summer, ah let's twist again, like we did last year, do you remember when?....

Brian,

Would it be accurate to say that you want to twist away on the backswing and then twist again on the downswing? Worked great for me yesterday!

twist

If you twist and turn away.
If you tear yourself in two again.
If I could, yes I would
If I could, I would let it go.
Surrender, dislocate.

Do you think Knudsen really did much twisting? Not arguing the flat position he is in, just that he really 'allowed' CF to work its magic IMO. Didn't have to 'do' too much but flow with it IMO. You can see Lema and Palmer 'doing it' (and Palmer talked about it in his book).

I love that site - such excellent photos! Thanks for posting those Brian - great stuff.

Off topic but . . . B . . . If you look at the very illustrative Impact/Separation spectrum from the "caddy view" of Buck George Tony and Hale . . . Would you say that GRIP TYPE has a lot to do with WHERE you "HIT THE BOX." Woooo! I said "HIT THE BOX!" From the windooooooow to the . . .

I'm kinda lost on this box deal.

...

Why is the box where you say it is?

Do you mean like the box you have in the face-on Mike Finney swing vid?

Just ahead of the ball...?

...

Or are you talking about Low Point or what....?

I could be wrong but I see the Box as the position that the whole Club would assume if it were placed entirely against the side of a box.

Twist away is probaly the coolest thing ever invented in golf, no matter how bad my swing gets i can always go back to that pattern and work through my issues which is usually just an open clubface.

Brian and other Twisters,

What happens when you do the Twistaway without the Twist, i.e. Arch your left wrist without Rolling it??
