My Candor is actually refreshing to some.

Here is a question for you Mr. Circle: Why when a PLAYER says he think he is or aspires to be the best everyone applauds...and when a teacher does it, someone like you jumps up and down in disgust??

Just my opinion, If you are good at what you do the truth will come out. Now wannabe pros like EdZ well thats another story.

Lovely, your 5th post and already an ass. What's your deal?

Yes, the truth WILL come out, in fact, it already is, if you know where to look

I respect your opinion.

But, like i have siad there are NO Star Seaches for teachers, no American Idol for instructors.

I'll speak softly AFTER I get my turn at the mike.

You crack me up Brian :D

I appreciate that you have toned things down a lot, thank you for that BTW.... but you, speaking softly? Now THAT is funny!

I hope you get your chance though.... I'll believe it when I see it!

I just think you are a wannabe pro;)

Golf professioanls should be in the business to help their students reach their goals, by effectively communicating understandable, accurate information. Whose the best instructor is totally subjective (unless you can provide a way of measuring your success).
All professionals, I would hope, would strive to become better than they are presently. But, who is the best? Does it really matter as long as you are getting results with everyone who listens? If you build a better mouse trap they will come and they will come quickly. Maybe the so-called best are the self promotors or those that have the best P.R. representation. Golf Professionals that are dedicated to their craft will always have a following. The final lesson scorecard will be the sum of each lesson given (one lesson, small or large in sze, at a time).

In the short run, you are correct. Take a long term view, keep striving to be the best. There are no short cuts. The journey to becoming the best is more important then the final result.
You are headed IMHO in the right direction. The golf world will eventually change, it just may take some time.

drew, you are looking at the KING of the long term view :).

You are so right.

I have turned down money in the past for videos and books that I would not have been happy with.

I resisited sending articles to major mags for years so they wouldn't steal the ideas.

The funny thing is this...

WALLY ARMSTRONG..the BEST EVER????

;)

Once again Brian, you crack me up.... [8D]

One of these days, you will admit that MANY people can teach the swing well, not just you. I agree that 'most' of them don't have the 'mike'. Now I agree with you, 'most' instructors that do have the 'mike' haven't a clue of the best way to teach, even if they basically 'get' the ideas, they haven't 'learned' them well enough to teach them.

You're a great teacher Brian, but from my perspective, you will never be the 'best ever', there CAN'T be a 'best ever' - and Hogan knew this well, as even you have posted recently.

There can however, be a 'top ten' list... at any given time. And I would put Wally on that list.

I'd still pick Knudson, Hogan, Jones/De la Torre and Homer as MY picks for the top.

Balance
'swing'
Lag
Target

If you haven't had any influence...and De le torre and Armstrong certainly haven't, then you really can't be on any list.

You say that like there is something 'new' to the physics and geometry of swinging a club....

there isn't

and as you have posted before, the only change is in how to communicate to others

those guys communicate well, the essence of teaching

And from what I understand, plenty of folks have been 'influenced' by de la torre, who of course was 'influenced' by ernest jones

as you have been 'influenced' by Homer and Ben....

as we ALL have been 'influenced' by Hogan.....
