On TV of course BUT...swing looks much better imo. i wonder if he has been working on all the things i absolutely hate. If he keeps swinging like this, he's got a great shot this weekend. But even when he's not "on" he has a shot so i'm sure thats saying much but you know what i mean lol.

I wonder who he is working with?

Tiger 5.0

Just saw a tee shot.

Tiger is closer to the ball, WAY MORE IN HAND PATH going back, a touch less laid off, and more Nicklaus-like at the finish.

Upgrade!

I just read that he is working alone? Hmmm, wonder if that's true? May be the best thing for him right now though...

I read on another site that Sean Foley worked briefly with Tiger this week. I think the Golf Channel was the source for this info.

Just like Brian said on the UStream posted up today

Even if he is working with someone (Brian posited that he is.) he will not be giving out that name. For invasion-of-privacy reasons.

That said, damn. The swing looked real good today, I watched his birdie-eagle start and turned it back on to watch him stick a seven iron to 4 feet.

Game on!

he still made some bad swings but as brian said much improved. the biggest diff id the more upright finish or nicklaus like.

however phil looked phenominal, he is fricken dangerous when he can swing all out and it goes in a decent direction

meh, he's always been ranger rob. but that one did look better, especially right after ball.

Swinging more left?

As Brian says, he could still strengthen his grip. His clubface still looks pretty open at the top and in the downswing. Also looks like the ball position with his driver is more toward the middle--he could definitely move it way more forward.

From an article on foxsports.com:

He said he wasn’t working with another coach but was using video to monitor himself.

He’s added loft to his driver, which says he’s going to try to hit his tee shots more on the upswing than he’s been doing.

“The (old) driver's good, but in the wind I wasn't getting full benefit,” he said. “I was spinning a little bit too much.”

In what was an expansive news conference, Woods spoke too about the evolution of his swing. He didn’t sound like he was returning to the swing of his youth, which he used to dominate opponents.

“I can't make that swing anymore. I don't have the speed,” he said.

“I'm getting older.”

interesting with the driver.

Hasn't Tiger always hit a pretty high ball w/driver?
Wouldn't more loft make you want to move the ball more toward the center?
Doesn't that minimize your ability to hit the ball on the upswing?
More loft, ball back generally means more spin, NO?

I'm not saying more loft is a bad thing, or ball more centered is a bad thing but doesn't the two of them create more spin?

As for his swing yesterday, definitely an upgrade, I noticed, besides the arm swing being slightly more vertical w/hands in more, there was less "body compression" on the way down, ie. kept his heights a little more consistent.

I've never understood why people don't like the compression move Tiger makes, or maybe the "exaggerated" compression move. Why is this a bad thing? Hogan did it pretty severely. Help?? Thanks.

Why would you add loft to your driver and then try to hit the ball more on the upswing?

I think that swing looks pretty good and much better. Not anywhere near as laid off, then dipping into the ball. The grip is still my main concern for him though. That has to change IMO or he'll continue to hit too many drives dead right.
