Here are to girls who i have noticed that both keep all the bend in there right arm on the downswing through impact.. is this a way to get more distance for females and guys who are not so strong ?

Hmm it says the first girl hits it 260 so Im not to sure if that is good compared to other females.. I know 260 is about how far i hit it when i bust it so was just curious if trying this technique would maybe add a few yards ...

Would retaining the right arm bend keep the hand path more inside the ball, and give a more vertical left arm? I can see how it could, but what would the tradeoff be?

Ben Hogan had a similar right arm move through impact.Hogan was considered a big hitter for his size.

Man, the first gal in the DS has high hands and to hit the ball has to do late-near-impact, big, right hand ulnar deviation (uncocking) so as not to miss the ball. Quite a move, not sure I'd want for me at all. The second gal seems similar, but can't quite tell for sure.

Noticed that both girl sat into their downswing which dropped their head position, and then rose up in the downswing to ensure their hands coupling point ascended into impact. The second girl even dropped down further at the start of the downswing so she was really launching herself into impact. I love watching the naked leg action of girl golfers... as opposed to the men wearing long pants and hiding their true leg action.

Hogan's head stayed level throughout the slo-mo swing... and I bet he couldn't hit it much farther than the girls.

He will be coming at you frothing at the mouth if you don't retract this quote...i have warned you.

Thanks for the heads up ... and I got my tattered copy of 5 Lessons ready at my side too ...

Dariusz is gonna be mighty upset you said this.....

Why ? let's suppose Steve T is correct. It makes Hogan even more astounding. Not only he won all these events with a girl-like distance; he also gathered all these bombing-ball-like-a-man pros sitting around and watching him hit balls on the range and dreaming to be him. Prolly all these pros were gay transwestites then.

Cheers

Dariusz.... Hogan's swing was a homemade, non-scientific swing using ancient equipment... and masochistically digging it out of the dirt. To his credit he acknowledged that he sought out scientific solutions, particularly at the start of Chapter 2 of his Five Lessons. He also anticipated changes based on new science.

I still don't know why people are looking at the kinematics.

Sir Isaac Newton's physics incorporates kinetics AND kinematics... and you must appreciate both to fully understand the dynamics of the golfswing.

Just imagine... Newton's monograph Philosophiæ Naturalis Principia Mathematica, published in 1687, lays the foundations for most of classical mechanics... and it only took about 400 years before golf discovered science...!!! Ignorance can be bliss...!

Our Brian Manzella abandoned the TGM faux-science and brought together many reputable scientists to learn and to bring true science to the average golfer. Way to go, Brian .....!!!

Why would that even be in your head?

Question, if hogans swing is the anomaly of all golf swings, why isn't his swing copied more on tour? Why do none of the guys swing like him? How do guys worship and preach it, yet can't perform it?

SteveT made a great comment stating his swing is a homemade non-scientific swing.

As far as the right arm, I feel like I would have to sit into the downswing more to be able to pull up at the coupling point w/ a bent right arm.

Reading other forum member comments, I get this impression too. Perhaps Brian should ask his scientific team at ASII if the ascending hand's coupling point requires an uplifting body force in the downswing... and not attempting to do it solely with the arms.

I'm no Hogan fanboy ......but to think Hogan was short exhibits a glaring lack of cogency. Just watch the Shell's Wonderful World of Golf where Hogan plays Snead. Snead was acknowledged as a very long hitter and Hogan pumps it past him several times. Hogan also won many long drive competitions during his early years on Tour.

Even in his later years he still hit it pure. Just read Kris Tschetter's book, Mr. Hogan, the Man I Knew.

The concept of Hogan being "girl short" made me giggle. Sometimes people say the darnedest things don't they?

Plus, everyone seems to forget in this mad rush to embrace "scientific swings" that all the great golf swings of the past were "home made and unscientific" swings. Including Bobby Jones, Sam Snead, Arnold Palmer, Jack Nicklaus, and Lee Trevino. These "unscientific" swings won a butt-load of majors and dominated the game.

All the science in the world won't beat a determined and committed individual that's willing to dig his swing out of the dirt until he is the best there is. 95% of the people that play golf can use all the best science in the world and they still won't bust 80. Sad but true.

Now...can we quit beating the Hogan horse to death?

I was never taking anything away from Hogan as a golfer. I was merely stating that the guys who are pushing everything he did in his swing and stating that it is THE way or the only way is getting tiresome.

Hogan in many different types of categories was the best ball striker ever, but not all categories.
