What do you guys think of this?

Over the past few months, I've seen Brian's and others view on the golf swing, evolve. The evolution has been from one of a TGM hands in front of the club, maintain right wrist bend, to more of an arthur jones type swing.

Edit.

Tball,

I edited your post because it linked to another site.

Use your own words to describe the question you have with mention names.

Thanks,

BM

PS Did you mean Ernest Jones?

Man, I did get in trouble got slapped down. What I posted was another link by a high profile instructor who feels you should start the hit from the top, ie: try to throw the clubhead at the ball, against an upper body that acts as a resistant. Ie: throw the club with the arms.

His feeling is that the body will react to the throwing of the clubhead by the arms.

I'd personally be worried about a flip, but his take is that will not happen.

I personally still like a bent right wrist at impact. I can tell immediately when I lose that bend, as my compression gets a little shaky.

Yes, I did mean Ernest Jones, I think Arthur Jones invented the nautilus machine:)

the "throw technique" will work for SOME but not MOST imo

I can say Tomasello right, since he's passed away and really isn't in the golf "market" anymore? Anyway. I think you used to mess around with some of TT's "stuff" right Jim? What do you think about the "throwing action" he taught? How was your distance with it? Any downsides to it? I tried it for like 30 minutes several months ago and had good success in that short amount of time. I've really stuck with Manzella "stuff" for quite a while but those 2 best shots ever always have old Tommy in the back of my head. Any thoughts are welcomed. Thanks Jim

My feeling ius that you'd get a better result throwing the clubhead using hand action as a stimulus...

And then it is just a question of adjusting to the new timing (because if you do it right, you have to adjust the speed of your pivot to keep up with the clubhead)..

If you are someone who stays under the sweetspot for a long time before impact (IE me) and try to "throw out" at the clubhead in the downswing, prepare for the shanks. If you are someone who stays more on top of the sweetspot in the whole downswing, it will work.

When i tried using TT's pattern it worked well but i hit it shorter because my right shoulder was offplane and i was losing swing speed due to a reduction in trigger delay. Once i got the right shoulder down plane i started to shank it because i stay under the sweetspot longer than most in the downswing.

I prefer my current pattern

Ironic, the main reason I haven't tried it more is because OF THE SHANKS I was also getting.

So it sounds like you close the face much later in the downswing with much more velocity so when you start "pushing" you are "pushing on the hosel" and not the sweetspot....SHANK!
