What is Tiger's problem with his driving?

1 session, maybe 2 hours, and I would have him hitting it (and understanding it) so good, he might not lose for a while.

He really doesn't know what he is doing. He is very smart and would take the infomation, the RIGHT information, and be even better.

He won't get it from the "Trobleshooters".
Brian: On the FGI swing discussion section there was a post on Mickelson's swing defects, I know you had an opinion on this but never alluded to what it was. I guess for professional reasons which is fair enough. In the right hands how long do you think it would take to fix him? Also is there any chance of finding out what his defect/defects is/are? Thanks.

Mickelson's teacher, Rick Smith, thought like so many of the "TROUBLEshooters", that if you had LESS axis tilt, you would swing less inside-out.

Maybe...but you NEED axis tilt.

AND...and A N D, the golfer who swung LEFT thee most successfully had the MOST axis tilt, Lee Buck Trevino.

So Phil, I want yu to go back to axis tilt-ing and we will get you to swing less inside-out.....in about 30 minutes.

Tiger, we will look at Video of Hogan, Snead, Nicklaus, Watson etc, see where their clubshafts were 1/3rd of the way back with a driver, look at where you were (97 MASTERS) and where you are now. We will fox this big flaw in about 15minutes.

Tiger, do you know imapct alignments?

Has anyone compared Tiger's Left Knee today from yesterday. Granted he takes the club back on the outside, so do some others, maybe not as much. But this swing problem is creeping into the rest of his game in my opinion. To me and I can't put the video's up side by side, but it sure looks like his movements are different a bit.

Tiger is the only one with that backswing who tries to draw it except for O'Meara, and O'Meara swings 30 mph slower and looks wooden doing it.

Brian, since you said that fixing a hook should be done path first, would increasing axis tilt and/or lift be the way to solve hooking problems?

I watched him when I was working for ABC at the Open and most of the shots I saw him hit were straight with a slight fade. Cherrybarry: Was he drawing the ball or hitting it straight when you were watching him? Brian : Do you prefer your players to draw or fade the ball?

EVERY shot was a draw.
If he was working on that shot, one would expect him to hit a couple of fades in between, but every one of them was a draw.

If he was working on a draw, why would he hits fades in between?

I have a feeling some players may work on a particular shape for certain courses. On our Australian tour here in summertime, the fairways can get really hard and fast and players will try and hit fades where they can, to stop the ball from running so much, well thats the info I have gotten from a few ex-Aus tour players I know.

Johnny Miller said he hit three draws three fades three straight when he was practicing. That it kept draws from turning into hooks and fades into slices, that he tried not to overcook anything when he was on the range...

go to http://golfdigest.com/instruction/swingsequences/
you have to register (free)to view
If you view the swings down the line while holding a pencil on the screen along the club line you can see which guys come into the ball above plane (faders) and below plane (draw)
Duval, Couples, Toms, Furyk fade
Garcia, Parnevik, Howell are closer to draw or straight(on plane) .
This is only one swing but it gives one a better understanding or the plane and the resulting ball flight.

Trust me, David a'int trying to hit no hook.

His go to shot if he is playing well is a slight fade.

Also he CAN hit a draw.

When he is having trouble he is making too much of a "draw swing".

It's very obvious that NONE of you play to a level that could actually place in a Professional level tournament. Tiger is not "in" enough for what? Scott Hoch "carries" the club too much to eliminate him from what? WHAT? WHAT? WHAT?

You don't GET IT!

He (and you and me) can be BETTER!!!!

I have devoted my entire professional life to getting people better.

Get it?
Brian, i think its the first time i hear you say this....about time...personnaly i thought you were a crazed powerego that just wants to be #1 instructor, i still think this is your goal and that you are, but nice to know that the real devotion is still "getting people better", your forum is pretty cool...

Brian and others: One of the comments that EdZ made about mikestloc's swing was that in his opinion Mike should have a wider base/stance like Tiger Woods.Woods looks to over-do this wide stance thing to me. Do you think Tiger's stance is too wide? Sergio Garcia hits it plenty long off a much more narrow stance.
