After reading TGM and reading all TGM related posts on FGI and now here on Brian's forum it's all starting to come together for me. :)

Initially, when I began to change my swing because of some lessons I had taken with a driving range pro I was playing to about +23, that quickly blew out to hover between +25 to +30. I was devastated to say the least. I had stuck with my changes for quite a few months and to no benefit. I went back to my old ways, I was sick of playing the way I was playing but something weird had happened. I didn't like hitting the way I used to hit the ball. I had been reading TGM for months now and I could see my old swing was not the answer.

I began practicing pitch shots at 1/2 speed using Brian's grip from his article while trying to imitate Brian's pitch in his video. I was trying to cement the feeling of a flat left wrist and a bent right wrist at impact, trying to feel the #3 pressure point. Then it started to happen... [8)]

I only recently joined a golf club (September this year). Up until now I have just played socially with my friends. Two weeks ago I shot a +16 to give me my fifth handicap card. I received a handicap of '23' (that last round really helped). I was content with that after playing badly for so many months. I played in my first club competition round last weekend and won!! It was a stableford event and I scored 44 points. My stroke score was +15! I played again today with a friend (we had taken a day off to get him his fifth handicap card before next weekend) and scored +13!! I'm not sure what is going on with my game but I like it!!! :D

Thanks Brian, ragman, hue and everyone else on here and FGI that talk TGM! :) :D :)

The "dude " left this post on the GO website. I found that this drill helped me a lot and I still do it . At the stage you are at this will help you a lot.
If I was smart, fat chance of that ever transpiring, I would post pictures of the drill. Anyway, this is for Power. Though this drill is not performed at fullspeed, ya' think, it will ingrain some very key points that all good golf swings possess. It is good for many, many ailments.

Lay a 2x4 that is approximately 3' long on target line with the skinny flat section where ball would be with the length part on target line facing towards target. ( _ )

Take your address position, swing to the top, allow hands to drop vertically to approx. waist high position then turn into the board so that the leading edge is flat to surface. Drag, push, pull, apply pressure to the board down the line and you will then become separated from board and clubface and just keep going up to finish. As you continue from position where both arms are straight and you become separated from board, you will move into a poistion at waist high where club is parallel to the ground , forearms have begun and are moving up the inclined plane etc. Yes, Power, do this drill using the 32-ball drill. Use the board then step away from board and perform fullswing regular pace with clearkey, then repeat. You will come out of the box this spring with a whole new game.

Some key points and alignments will be created in this drill best of which is the flat left wrist and bent right wrist. All great players achieve this alignment. You will be on plane, you will stay down and through the shot, you will create extension with both arms, you will go to both arms straight, head behind the ball, x-factor lol!, and the list could become quite lengthy. I'm sure you could also use an impact bag or duffle bag with old rags stuffed in it but, there is something and I think advantages in using the 2x4. The weight, the smaller area you are making contact, etc.

May have to add the mop swinging drill to go along with this one. Or may need to keep somethings to myself. Don't want to lose the edge.

Hope this helps. thanks for the drill ro, Randy Dude.

Steve: This is a keygolf/ Carey Mumford idea/drill where he uses the 32 ball routine. Four swings/repetitions/mirror work/drills where the golfer does something consciously to improve his method, followed by 4 swings where the golfer is thinking of a clear key(Mary had a little lamb...) while they are swinging. The latter gets the golfer's mind off a conscious swing thought and allows the subconscious to perform the swing. The former is working to improve the subconscious programme. This routine is repeated 4 times(32 balls).Check out keygolf's website www.clearkeygolf.com for more info. I am sure Carey will add more to this .
