After reading TGM and reading all TGM related posts on FGI and now here on Brian's forum it's all starting to come together for me.
Initially, when I began to change my swing because of some lessons I had taken with a driving range pro I was playing to about +23, that quickly blew out to hover between +25 to +30. I was devastated to say the least. I had stuck with my changes for quite a few months and to no benefit. I went back to my old ways, I was sick of playing the way I was playing but something weird had happened. I didn't like hitting the way I used to hit the ball. I had been reading TGM for months now and I could see my old swing was not the answer.
I began practicing pitch shots at 1/2 speed using Brian's grip from his article while trying to imitate Brian's pitch in his video. I was trying to cement the feeling of a flat left wrist and a bent right wrist at impact, trying to feel the #3 pressure point. Then it started to happen... [8)]
I only recently joined a golf club (September this year). Up until now I have just played socially with my friends. Two weeks ago I shot a +16 to give me my fifth handicap card. I received a handicap of '23' (that last round really helped). I was content with that after playing badly for so many months. I played in my first club competition round last weekend and won!! It was a stableford event and I scored 44 points. My stroke score was +15! I played again today with a friend (we had taken a day off to get him his fifth handicap card before next weekend) and scored +13!! I'm not sure what is going on with my game but I like it!!!
Thanks Brian, ragman, hue and everyone else on here and FGI that talk TGM!
