Interesting......I remember reading a post on another forum by a golf pro who worked for a Ballard guy in CA who took lessons from Mike Austin in the late 80's....he said that Austin told him that when he really wanted to kill the ball he would push backwards on the top of the grip with his left hand through impact.
Brian,
What do you think someone starting to apply more of these forces around the coupling point would tend to experience in terms of face control (more open, more closed, or not likely to change) through impact? In addition to more club head speed, that is.
So nobody on tour really swings the club like a handkerchief with a pen knife tied to the end, a la a certain old time instructor's doctrine? It's all leverage?
All is a little strong, but one could say even arm speed is obtained by shoulder leverage? The double pendulum model needs to be upgraded to the quaduple pendulum model, adding both wrist-hand levers.
Interesting thought bluebird. Question is will two more degrees of freedom increase the accuracy of the model. I am thinking back to Zick's presentation at ASII. He claims his double pendulum model is a good fit with real life data and that nothing would be gained by adding more degrees of freedom.
