Is this just a strength issue?
It is not, at all. It is a speed issue, nothing more, nothing less. I wish I had all the time back that I spent on strenghtening my core, trying to snap the chain, working from the ground up, pivoting more . . . . None of it worked for me. What has worked is experimenting with different feels of moving the club fast and faster. Most of my fastest swings are when I get it to the top and try to throw it away as soon as possible.
Get a radar and experiment on what feels produce the fastest speeds. Try to replicate with a club with no regard to ball flight at first. Then move on to hitting balls with the radar there. You may be surprised at what you can do. I'm no less accurate and swinging faster now. Good luck.
I'm not addressing his issues, I'm pointing at glaring differences between the two swings the OP wanted compared and contrasted, after the obvious answer (better camera work in the latter) this is where I would start with the differences. You can give OP more mph on his swing but it won't make him look like the other guy. He needs a better base from which to create the speed, his head is turning with his backswing also suggesting lack of flexibility. He needs to find a way to stay BALANCED while being EXPLOSIVELY fast... if he wants it to look like the one he is comparing his swing to. I'm not attempting to give him a lesson or make him better by this weekend.
If I was I would tell him to get off the mat first thing, you don't see the "other guy" hitting off that fake sh*t.
