Why the current state of golf instruction sucks...come inside

Instead of piling on the other thread i wanted to make my own for a number of different reasons. I feel i have UNIQUE insight into this business because of how i got into the game of golf: 1) As a fan 2) As a player (bad one) 3) As a student (books/magazines/friends/etc) 4) As a "lesson...

Couple Questions i need clarification on...(w/Manzella Video Answer)

    1) Why is angled hinge swinging incompatable? 2) How can you hook it off the earth with the above question? 3) If one ball position and varying the width of your stance does not work because clubs are all different lengths, how was Jack Nicklaus so successful? ----- Thanks ;)

Rotated Shoulder turn vs Flat shoulder turn

2 questions: Can someone show me pictures of both on tour players? If my shoulders are at a 90* angle to my spine is that "without a doubt" a rotated shoulder turn? ---- After those are answered i'll probably have more on this subject. Thanks

Need some "extra pop" for that putter on slow greens? Try this!

Try some floating loading with your putter on slow greens where you need more speed. Seems like accuracy would suffer but if you do it right, it really doesn't. It's just harder to control the shorter putts, need to practice it a bit but then it's fine.

    Question about the "double shift"

I think i know the answer but i would like to pose the question to those that know more about plane shifts than i do: Does it matter WHEN you shift from the eblow plane to the TSP in the backswing? -------- I noticed from some swing sequences compared to my own that i shift from the elbow...

Are there times when Throwaway is appropriate?

Gasp! I say YES! If you are a better player who doesn't have a flipping problem, a little throwaway really makes a small draw more reliable in my opinion. Just my opinion.

Right shoulder on plane + Great ballstrikers

Brian or anyone Can you think of anyone who is/was a great ballstriker who DID NOT HAVE their right shoulder on the turned shoulder on the downswing? If so i would appreciate a swing sequence of that person(s) as well. thanks!

Brian, how do i swing faster?

Currently i swing the driver roughly 110-112 when i'm warmed up fully. I drive the ball in the 280-295 range with the occasional 300 yard poke a round as i can get the swing speed up to 115 once in a while. My current pattern is similar to Mike Finney's if not almost exact: - Use your grip -...

My Predictions for this year's US Open

I did this last year after a couple rounds and predicted that if Michael Campell held up under the pressure that he would win and i was right. I also made a pretty good prediction about this year's masters too. (look up either post) ----- So here i am this year and sorry i didn't make this...

    My Two Recent Lightbulb Moments....

    1) Weaker grips and much more visually flat left wrists will cure more golfers than stronger grips in the both the short term and the long term. Brian has said this for as long as i have known him, but i have figured out the "why" behind it. Why? Well, before I answer let's see if anyone else...

    Swing it like Freddie Couples

Is a pretty accurate way to play: strong grip aim left swing right angle hinge Pretty damn consistent pull fades allllllllllllll day long. Might just have to try it on the course, it worked so well at the range.

This TGM stuff works Part II

Well, went out for my first 18 holes of the season. I have also been to the range one more time since i posted my thread about being under plane. Last time i went i was hitting it pretty good. For a recap i went to see Brian and Tom in Orlando and they didn't change much. Bent me a over a bit...

    This TGM stuff WORKS...

I hate to brag but i have too ;) I've been to see Brian 3 times now. I've been studying TGM and the golf swing in general for 3 years now. I've been teaching "officially" for about 6 months but more like a year, i just started charging a bit ago. Been working with a pretty high handicap and...

First Time hitting balls this year....YUCK

Well, Brian....you did it. You turned me into a hooker. I worked on that right shoulder motion all winter and what happened? I'm swinging too far to the right. How do i know? I can't hit my drive off the deck [V]. I was also over cooking my driver right to left which I NEVER DO. So, i'll...

Looks like Tiger is all set for the masters....

My prediction for the masters, the winner will be: 1) In the top 10 in the world rankings 2) Averages at least 285 (if there is a decimal round up ex: 284.5) yards off the tee this year
