Part of me liked it...part of me thought "oh dear..." (the part of me most like a nervous mother)...

I smiled nonetheless.

Agreed on Bubba. Dude is such a dork but of course trying to do it a little on purpose as well. (Overton smiled too) Laughed when he got going.

No doubt both of these guys have "quickly excitable" in their traits...

Even IF a bit "overdone" (pushed)...(and I did say if)...there is no question they are there to get it done!

My guess is all these dudes are but stuff like this makes it clear right up front, is what I mean. Ain't anyone wondering "where they're at" that's for sure. (and that's something, to me)

I can appreciate this regardless of association with country.

That is...competitiveness regardless of who it is "for." (though no doubt it's to help the team)

1. He just holed an incredible shot.

2. I wouldn't expect anything less from one of the Euros. If Sergio was in the RC and made that shot whe would've done a cartwheel and that would be excused as 'youthful exuberance.'

3. It wasn't like he was up in his opponents' faces with this.

I actually think his opponents were probably not offended by it either.

I get far more offended by people on the Big Break making asses out of themselves than some guy who does a short celebration with his partner.

I like Brian's thoughts on being a captain. This 'let's be a family' stuff I just don't think is condusive to winning.

I thought it was freaking awesome. When I saw it live I jumped off the couch and yelled and fist pumped with them.

I kinda freaked me out. I can see all the high fives, etc, but to me he almost lost control of himself. If that were on the 18th hole to win the match, I'm buying it. On whatever hole that was (9th?), he still had to focus for the rest of the match. That type of scene definitely adds a ton of adrenaline.

I hope he does it to CLOSE out the match.

My point exactly. There is no room for the words "freaking awesome" in the game of golf. Is this the X Games or the Ryder Cup?

I guess I'm just a purist, a purist who enjoys new technology...like umm water proof bags and effective rain gear.

The Ryder Cup itself is nothing more than a "Saturday Morning Scramble" at the local muny. You play quirky games, anybody can win, gamesmanship, and always a couple of guys who are over the top. Entertainment, not tournament golf.

you liked it???

I liked it.

ahh yes Brian liked it ....why you ask???

his LSU teams wins cause TENN. doesnt teach math

his Saints have to win at the buzzer against a team the BUCS beat

besides a wonderful wife and a great mom.......overton was all you had going this weekend

kidding of course.....not about wife and mom.............just your football world

DON'T SAY IT......DON'T NO....DARN IT......YES I KNOW FLORIDA GOT SMACKED AGAINST ALABAMA

BEING SERIOUS I SAY THIS...I HOPE YOUR MANZIPOSIUM IS ALL YOU ARE HOPING FOR

TRAVEL SAFELY

Fowler is normally dressed like he is on the way back from the X-Games eh?

Overton's reaction seemed a little incongruous being on one of the most boring spots of the course. Looked like he was whooping and hollering in a field.

We can no longer pretend that the Europeans would have reacted with a "jolly good show" and a firm handshake (a pat on the back being a little bit too familiar). Good point though. Spaniards and Italians are allowed to show their latin passion, but this is somehow frowned upon? Let's face it, both sides are punching more than enough of the saturated Welsh air.

I liked it. Showed it means something. I don't think he would have reacted the same if he was in contention for a major. He knows there is a long way to go in that situation. In this case, the hole is over and it is a pretty significant blow to your opponents. They have to stew on it until the next tee, you get to enjoy it and recover yourself.

There is another good point there; it is not as if he is squaring up to his opponent and doing the same thing. Or is anyone worried about the spectre of Brookline looming over the proceedings?

The problem is,golf is not like most other sports where you can go beserk and maybe improve your performance.I can picture a 100m sprinter going nuts before the race to run faster.Golf is a bit like rifle shooting where they try to remain calm and keep their heart rate constant.

I doubt Bubba or Overton's heart rate was below 250 after that shot was holed.LOL

Tiger Woods goes more berzerk than anyone in golf history...!

Maybe only rivaled by fighters and football (US) players...!!

True,Tiger does celebrate rather enthusiastically at times but even he would have a hard time matching that 25 second yelling spree. It reminded me of a scene from the movie "Anger Management".lol

For the Record, I'm not saying "I'm embarrassed to be an American". Believe me, I appreciate our freedoms and my heritage. I'm just making the point that it is embarrassing to see that kind of action...as a fellow American. It's what I dont like about the future of golf, seems to me that we (some young American's) dont appreciate the culture of the game. Two final things and my peace is said...

1) How good was Tiger's expression when holing his iron?? I loved it, he's been there before, stay focused.
2) Overton redeemed himself with a great post-round interview today.

1. Tiger didn't "know" if his went in.
2. Tiger didn't have to watch Bubba putt 3 matches in a row (I would have been excited too to take a green off).

I agree Tigers reaction was classy and a sign of experience.
Excessive celebration is mentally draining in my opinion. I think both Ross Fisher and Rory was overly excited after being 2 up after the first few holes (Fistpumping and jumping around)...its a long match and you should save the energy and Fisher certainly could not hold it together and Rory was lucky to get a half.

A golfer would be well served to reflect on Kiplings verse.

"If you can meet with triumph and disaster
And treat those two imposters just the same;"

At 27 on his first Ryder Cup team I thought Overton's reaction was geniune (initially). He seems to be a high strung, emotional guy. If he could do it over again he probably would have controlled himself a little better. When Tiger was a younger man doing things for the first time he was a bit more animated as well.
