I think Ryan Smither had it right...

Hank Haney's voicemail:

"Hey, it's Tiger. Look, I need you to do me a huge favor. Could you please take your swing and not teach it to me anymore? Just change it so that it doesn't have your name on it anymore. I need you to do this for me. Huge. Quickly.

Alright, bye."

Ha ha:D:D

Intresting I dont think I have ever seen a coach tell any athlete that they dont want to work with them anymore when things are going good....usually when this happens there is some type of beef going on under the scenes, just weird that Hank would announce it like that, im sure some juicy story will come out of this.

It wouldnt surprise me if Tiger doesnt have a coach for a while, and just works on getting his life/mental stabilty back in order, its not fun watching him struggle. I also wouldnt be surprised if he starts to get rid of some other personal from his entourage, and comes back with a sort of start fresh attidue.

I think another thing people have to remember is Tiger still trust in what he is doing in his swing(even though alot of people think its bad). He may feel that he is closer than ever to greatness with his golf swing, so who knows maybe he will just remain by himself for a while (highly doubt it though).

I just wonder how this will turn out for Hank since his marketing ploy for the last 2 years has been worlds #1 golf instructor along with countless pictures of him glaring at tigers swing everywhere on TV and magazines.

Didn't butch basically tell him that he was going to cut back his availability because he had other things he wanted to do and was getting older so he wanted to cut back? kinda like telling the player to go elsewhere but in a more classy way.

did I just see on TGC that Haney informed Tiger by text?
WHAT A DOUCHE!

I agree, pretty strange. Perhaps it points to the state of their relationship.

I say, hallelujah! Maybe we have a chance of seeing some great golf out of him. I know thats really harsh considering how much he's won over the past 6 years. Let the face it, he's been horrendous off the tee and its difficult to consider him the best player ever when he hits it like that with the driver.

We've already seen his best golf, that was 10 years ago. His peak came very early. His body and mind are drastically different than they were back then, I don't think he's capable sustaining that swing anymore.

I hope it isn't Dale Lynch...that is all golf needs Aaron Baddeley and Tiger competing to see who can hit it the worst and still play the tour.

I don't care

I'm getting to the point where I don't really care about Tiger. Initially, sure he cheated but I figured he and his wife would make their own decisions and move on - so that didn't bother me. I was hopeful we'd get to see greatness again - soon.

What really bothers me now is the lying/ lack of truthfulness - on top of the lying regarding his personal life. One moment he's fine - healthy - next withdrawing because of neck injury that's been there since pre-masters. He has no idea how it will go moving forward with the neck - until the MIR - so he brushed off specific questions about the future and the neck as stupid - at the same time when asked if the accident could have created the neck injury - he instantly became an expert neck doctor and said "Absolutely had nothing to do with it". Whether that's true or not - that's a BS answer.

Dear Tiger,
I'm OK with people that make a mistake, realize it, make changes and move on. People who lie, then continue to lie - then have an attitude in regards to people that question it - I don't need that in my life. Have a nice life Mr. Buddha!

I think people underestimate Haney's independence. Even Butch said in 2002 there were a lot of instructors that tried to "steal" Tiger, but Haney was not one of them. He is a lot more low key than other tour instructors. Other than O'Meara and Tiger, who else has he worked with? Both Harmon and Leadbetter have huge stables. A local pro that I took some lessons from in the early 90's worked for Haney in the 80's and is back working with him on his junior clinic. He indicated Haney was about as decent a guy as they come. Working with Tiger was doing nothing but taking away his reputation and putting a huge spotlight on a relatively low key guy. I hate his swing theory, but I don't see how working with Tiger helps him at all. He will make plenty of cash with his instruction and endorsements. I doubt Tiger fired him, I bet he realized there is a lot more to life than being blamed for every bad round the guy shoots. His instruction shows on the golf channel are almost as bad as watching Donald Trump. I hope he does not intend to devote more time to his tv career.

I may be mistaken, but I think Baddeley was at his best when working with Lynch. His game took a downturn when he moved on to another teacher. He just recently returned to Lynch I thought.

It's just like any other relationship. Haney knew he was going to get dumped so he did the dumping first because it looks better. I'd like Tiger to go back to Butch. All I know is that Tiger's whole life is crashing down on him. Although he did create all of this himself, I do feel slightly sorry for him. I hope he gets his family life squared away quickly and then get back to the Tiger that most of us have grown to love.

I thought there were a few issues with Butch

1. Tiger did not want Butch to have other students and it was a contentious issue.
2. Tiger would often ask Butch to drop everything and fly out to an event, I often hear from Phil "I called Butch".

I doubt Tiger is going to be very cool with his teacher working with Phil.
