For Brian: Mickelson's Putting Drill

When did someone boast about their IQ?

And does that Hawking quote apply to boasting about golf teaching IQ, because then you would be calling Brian a loser and he might be insulted by that.

You thinking his name is Hawkins when it is actually Hawking is not looking too good for you either.

Well herein lies the catch Chris.

Unlike you, I am not on a self-professing mission to state my intelligence.

When I discuss golf mechanics, I generally know what I am good at and what conversations I am best staying out of. Most of my ability to understand the golf stroke comes from understanding how a structure moves within a 3d enviroment. I have a gift for visually being able to see something in my mind in a clear manner. These are my strengths...

Other people have different strengths... Some people have a better insight in Neuroscience, Some people have a better understanding of club design, Some people have better knowledge of physics...etc etc

I have yet to see you show any great strength in any form. You really don't contribute to conversations. You take every opportunity to try to degrade everyone that speaks to you.

Let me leave you with this...people would cope with your annoying superior tone if you were even half as wonderful as you thought you were.

explain why it's non sense then, it's a valid way to obtain the break of putt.

I don't even think Mickelson is doing this, but even if he were, how is it a "valid way to obtain the break of a putt". Do you mean "valid" like it could work some of the time? How is reading a putt you don't have and then extrapolating the break around the hole until you get to the putt you have in reality? Why not just read the one real putt?

Just for practice....

The putt balls in a circle drill has been done by thousands over the years.

I started doing it in 1987, and had never seen anyone do it, and had never heard of it.

Obviously, it is a simple idea, done by 1000's

I loved it. Still do.

He is what I believe is the most practical way to do it (i will have this on my Matrix Putting Video as well:

1. Start with a single sloped area on a practice putting green.

2. Find the STRAIGHT uphill putt. Put ball one there. (start a three feet, never do more than 9 feet)

3. Go to the opposite side and put a ball the same distance straight down hill.

4. Put balls at the "equator" three feet away—the totally sidehill putts.

5. Put four balls at the corners.

That gives you eight balls, all the same distance, always in the same location relative to the slope.

To practice, hit the straight uphill putt first, and continue around the hole.

DO NOT LINE THE PUTTS UP.

Putt from three feet until you make them all.

Why don't you line the putts up?

You already know EXACTLY how they will break after one time around, and you are committing the FEEL OF THE SLOPE to your eyes and feet.

What Philly Mic is doing is pretending to make the "one before" his real putt with his practice stroke. Then he putts the actual ball.

Why does Phil miss?

The handle end moves forward too much.

Nobody is saying a three footer can't be made without lining a putt up, but rather that it is foolish for a great pga tour player to not line up a putt in a tournament.

Ah...you are not getting it.

When you use this method—at least the way I teach it—you find the straight uphill putt.

You then know the "fall line" and the way that particular putt will break.

So, you see, that's "lining it up."

Then, as you walk in to the ball—Phil goes to the "previous ghost putt'—YOU ARE SEEING THE LINE OF THE REAL PUTT.

That's also lining it up.

Phil has poor speed + a goofy handle drag, but I'd bet his "alignment" is as good as most top pros.

Since Stephen and Steven sound exactly the same and are just alternate spellings but Hawking and Hawkins sound very different and are different names, and then to add to that Deadly was the guy pretentiously quoting him not me, I'm going to have to go with Deadly looking worse.

"Put" and "Putt" sound exactly the same but are not alternative spellings, they have very different meanings. So, if you are going to pick others up on what you perceive to be their inaccuracies then please do it in a more constructive manner and forget the vernacular.

Kind of like how you looked on the last page when you didn't understand that gimmicks are for weak minded players.:)

You made a hasty and (again, as in so many other instances) inaccurate judgement call on the "gimmick" aspect of what some others see as being a drill worth spending time on - Major winners, even. Bit weak minded on your part, don't you think?:)

My Dear BIU,

I speak English as it is meant to be spoken. Unlike the American guy in your examples who pronounces "Put" in a distinctly Scottish fashion, e.g "Poot". He also strangulates the pronunciation of the word "Putt" and enunciates it as "Parht".

For the sake of accuracy you should realise that "Putt" is simply "Put" with a "T" added.

Thank you for your misguided interest in the matter; an excellent example of ignorance if ever there was one. ;)

Wow...you are an ass. You sound like you haven't gotten over the whole American revolution thing. Can you at least link to a dictionary that pronounces put and putt the way you do?

Sorry about the language Manzella Academy. Its necessary sometimes.

Never argue with an idiot. They bring you down to their level and beat you with experience.

You are the proverbial idiot Burner, you just don't know it yet.

I pity you Burner, honestly I do and I sincerely hope that you seek professional consultation for your inadequacies.

You appear to have an "English Headmaster" complex; attempting to contradict people at every opportunity but rarely succeeding.

The only place that "Put" and "Putt" sound exactly the same is in the mind of an ignoramus.

Why 100

Why 100 in a row? To simulate the pressure one feels over a putt in competition. It helps create the atmosphere that turn simple putts into difficult ones. Learning to make the difficult (because of circumstance) putts is a huge part of taking your game to the next level in competition.

Another benefit is that moving around does not wear the green as bad as the guys with the plane boards.

Got me in one! :)

If "SuckitUp" or "the future", God help us all if he truely is, are reading this they might like to note the insightful, rather than spiteful, nature of your humorous offering.

This is a bit like wrestling with a Pig in Shit. But you are the only one enjoying it.

PS: Go home! Your village is missing you.
