The real King... one of my favorites ever. Style, heart, charisma, just plain F'n cool. Perhaps some day I will catch him in NY and have him sign my #7 Umbro United shirt.

Did you English fellas really expect them to advance? Pretty clear that the English and the Italians this go around are subpar squads. Whomever made it through had no chance anyway against the likes of Germany, Spain, or Portugal for that matter. Man of the match for England for me was Glenn Johnson... everyone else was poor. Wellbeck is not good enough and although it pains me to say it, Carroll is better and should have started. Wellbeck scored a classy goal in the Euros, but he is not up to snuff - the Rooney/Wellbeck combo for club and country has to be a concoction of the English FA because otherwise I would have to admit that Sir Alex Ferguson has gotten it wrong (it is possible).
The English have some very talented direct players, but the premier league is full of link up players from other countries, the glue in the best EPL squads is not English (Silva e.g.). There is hope, I actually think Cleverly if he can stay healthy for any stretch of time will develop into a terrific player for United and for England.
Who wins a World Cup first us Yanks or Wayne Rooney's England? Is it too late for England to bring old man Scholes back into the fold?
