lot of pros bend 2 degrees down on their irons, therefore hitting it down even more?

I have 2 Ping S58 7 irons, one a black dot standard lie and another that is a purple dot 1.5* lie which is my gamer. I couldn't keep the black dot on the planet unless i put a very large "cut" style swing on it. The purple dot is a nice soft draw for me as my stock shot.

Broski, i'm thinking of switching my mizuno 32's to S58....
could you give me a more feedback on the S58? How are they compared to Mizuno?

I've only hit the 32's a few times. They seemed to hit the ball just as high as the S58's (the 32's were flighted iron set just like the 58s). Mizunos will feel better due to forged but to be honest, the S58/57/56 are the best feeling cast irons i have ever hit. They do hit the ball high and they are, to me, one of the most forgiving player irons i've ever hit.

Only thing i'm thinking of replacing them with is the S56 and that's only if on a trackman i can prove i either hit it longer or straighter on average.

can you shape the ball pretty well with S56?

the 32's are pretty easy to shape.

Another great advantage of TRACKMAN is that AA and VSP can be accurately measured. Somebody swinging a 6 iron at 70 degrees with an AA of -1.5 needs more than a few degrees of lie angle adjustment. I used to fit for Slazenger back in the day. They had a fitting cart the size of a mobile home with lie angles ranging from 7 flat to 7 up! I mean in one hour you could move the lie angle mark from the toe to the heel if you wanted without ever fixing an impact.

but what if you change your swing? do you need to get measured again?

Technically yes. And again if you change again. That's golf And that's why we have bending bars, lead tape, loft machines, grinders etc. I try to do some lessons before the first fitting to get the swing SOMEWHAT workable and then adjust as it develops. I mean look you can give a 6/7 up for 70 VSP and get centered hits, but at some point the 70 VSP has to go because of all the other problems it causes
