<Moe's Hands? Freakishly strong. Hold a wedge in a vertical manner at the grip between your index finger and middle finger and take the club to parallel. Good luck. I heard Gary Player could do this. Moe did it all the time. That is freakish. Try it.>

I tried it. I can do it and I've never practiced it. I'd say my hands are strong, but not "freakishly" strong by an means.

All i'm saying is that if people are going to compare themselves to superior ballstrikers (not just immitaters of certain patterns) then they should be out winning tournaments or setting their own records.

Basically, your point is those who can do, those who can't teach. And in general, it is true. But, it's not invariably true. Consider musicians. The public thinks they know who the best is, but some of the best ever have never recorded and never toured.

I guess it's a little hard to say that for golfers, since we base our opinions on tournament records. But, ball striking ability? I'm sure there are some great ball strikers out there for whatever reason have little interest in going on tour.

To illustrate my point, view the link below. Here you have a Moe Norman fuddy duddy type of guitarist who no one knows about (he's a guitar teacher in Brazil), but whose techniques are as technically impressive as anyone who has played jazz guitar (far beyond Jimi Hendrix technically). You may hate this type of music, but check out the moves...(Skip the first 30 secs. which are out of synch.)

If you read the comments, a lot of people think this performance is fake because it's almost insane. As a guitarist, I can assure you it's real. This roughly equates to a phenomenal golf swing(er) that is unknown and/or is "just" a teacher.

Great ball striking is fleeting... There are too many examples of so-called great ball strikers that couldn't consistently win or stay on tour.

Learn how to putt, chip and pitch. I played my first full round yesterday in four months. My ball striking was horrible, but I got up and down from everywhere and putted like an angry Tiger Woods.

Golf is sooo easy!

No i am not, and i am also not taking a shot at you if you feel that i am.

All i am saying is that if someone really believes they are a fantastic ballstriker and are WILLING to compare themselves to LEGENDS of Golf (moe is a legend) then they should be able to go out and win tournaments like the legends they are comparing themselves too.

I mean come on, Moe HATED PUTTING, said it was "boring" but he won tournaments and set course records. If you, me, or anyone thinks they can hit the ball as good as the pros then you should be out there competing with them.

I don't think that's too much to ask, if you want to walk the walk then you should be able to talk the talk.

Also your comparison to music is flawed and my comparison to art was more of an analogy than a comparison. When it comes to music, a lot of that industry is about entertainment, not just talent.

You have to have both to succeed and become famous.

Yes a lot of music is about entertainment not talent, but on a solo instrument sitting down, it's mostly about talent. lol.

& I think a golfer needs the total game, at least in the USA.

David, "...a golfer needs the total game, at least in the USA"....???

Do you want to explain this further??

I believe that golf on the European tour is far more varied ( our definition of Euro tour now includes tournaments played in Europe, Asia ( "far east" and "middle east" if one takes a very eurocentric view), africa and Australia and NZ....schedule here:-

http://www.europeantour.com/default...1171-92FF-422B-9B01-24CD5B3C1874}&seasonid=79

The variety of golf course design, conditions, mental hurdles ( language, climate, food, travel being the bare minimum) encountered....

The challenges in GB, Ireland and Europe alone are more varied than the US .

The more varied the courses, the more varied the challenges..the more complete the golfer....

Apart from Tiger Woods ( exceptional man )... the more varied and complete players have played on European Tour. And Moe would have been welcome!

David, try Joe Satriani (as a commercial option)...

I concur. The PGA Tour looks like it is played on the same golf course every week. I have always enjoyed watching the European Tour more than the PGA.

For some reason, despite the on course billboards, I feel like the euro tour has classier feel to it. Like it's pure golf instead of golf with a bunch of bs tied to it.

I should have said in the USA and Europe. I think the courses (perhaps) and especially the competition in Canada may have been easier during the time Moe competed.

I've spent time in Canada. The courses are beautiful and the people are terrific. I'm not knocking Canada. T Canadians are golf fanatics almost as much as they love hockey. It wasn't Moe's fault, he did what he could where he was. The competition was likely less because of the smaller population and purses.
