We've given some love on the forum to Paula Creamer but it's about time Natalie gets some props:

Her swing is so different than Paula's:

Really makes me appreciate Brian's recent post:
What I am finding in my research....I am doing research is this:

There seems to be two kinds of golf swings.

Without giving it all away, the Nicklaus-Calcaveccia-Watson-Toms model, and the Sergio-Hogan-McIllroy-Fowler model.

There is "optimum" way to do those two types of swings. And....there is "sub-optimum."

You can make either work, of course, because the ball only knows what the club is doing.

But the body is a HUGE influence.

Just my opinion. Generally speaking, lesser players over use the body and alot of people who cant really play think the pivot adds to the club and try to power their swings with the pivot. The best players have soooooo much hand and arm action. For some insane reason hands get a bad rep in some circles.

I don't understand the love for Gulbis' swing. She finished 111th in driving distance last year, average drive of 239.5.

I really do not like her golf swing, but the general theme I sense has been about optimal golf swings...in particular golfers who bomb it a long ways. What I mean is, while I may not like Bubba Watson's swing...I can understand the love for it from a biomechanical perspective because he does things that will allow for optimal performance when he really catches one. Gulbis ain't even close to being a bomber by the LPGA standards and she finished 51st in GIR last year.

I just don't see optimization here nor do I see impeccable precision.

A lot of improv in those swings. Line drawing swing aesthetes would have seizures looking at all of that stuff going on. Creamer's swing does not look as flat in person...Gulbis looks every bit as goofy in person real time. Dinks it a bit compared to some of the other gals.

I recall some of my own swing demons being summoned when I viewed my own mess on tape for the first time!

What's being termed handsy is just a great snap of her chain! Goofy? Fast-forward to the 1:23 mark:

Tell the truth you didn't put N.G.'s swing up to admire her "form" did you?...lol.

How would you like to put those sensors on her Lia?

Most of the LPGA players look to me like theyre not even trying.

Unlike this swing. This girl swings with authority.

I'm kinda with Rich on this one. While I give big props to anyone who can earn a nice living on the scores they post, I don't like gangly and awkward just because it's different. Some of these players have swings that only their accountants can love. Both of these styles paid the bills...

... but lets not pretend they are something else.;)

Oy vey!

mgranato: Gangly and awkward? Your picture illustrates her amazing axis tilt. Steep downswing shoulders are gangly and awkward? This guy Tiger played better doing it that way...

Her "flip"? Snapping of the chain to the max.

Re-evaluate that MATT video and look at what the club and ball are doing in the DTL iron video, please...if there ever was a case of people getting caught up with what the body was doing at the expense of what the ball and club are doing, this is it. What really matters? Please watch Brian's form and function video...

Weird position of the left feet at 1:40, almost pointing to the target line  while in the shot before that segment I see a more a roll of the ankle then a displacement.

I'll bet you a shiny new golf tee if you can find any footage of her and Tiger in any of the same positions throughout the swing.

No thanks on re-watching the video. I've already said her swing works for HER, but just because you fancy that move doesn't mean everyone will. Nor do I need to re-watch B's video again, I already know she has function - she chose correctly. She's found an odd form as a functioning way to be a short-and-not-too-straight hitter.

No harm or foul, swing beauty can be in the eye of the beholder. Btw, what prescription are your glasses? :p;):)
