(sigh) This is the point where I realize the person I am talking to is a moron and there is no point in going further.
chris: you don't know that having layers and layers of muscle inhibits flexibility? Do u think zuback can touch his toes? Nobody said you have to be on steriods to be strong. Zuback isn't in the strong category. He is in the bodybuilder category. If u think he looks the way he does without ever taking any performance enhancing drug(steriods or hgh), think again.
.
I've watched Zuback in person, and have seen his flexibility firsthand. No, having layers of muscle do not inhibit his flexibility. And I've seen a lot of flexible bodybulders, so that is too narrow a generalization to be valid as stated.
Zuback also is not a bodybuilder. His training was in powerlifting; so he is actually in the strong category. And while I can't defitively say that he hasn't used performance enhancing drugs, I really find it extremely narrowminded to say that he couldn't get where he is physically with out them. There are people who are genetically gifted enough to be able to put on a great deal of muscle, and disciplined enough to lean out. Why is it that many times when somebody sees a big, strong guy, especially if he is fairly well defined, that that guy is on steroids?
One other point about Zuback and the MMA fighter. Why wouldn't they be a good comparison, regarding the effect of muscularity on flexibility? They're close to the same size.
Power lifter vs fighter...its not that difficult to see the difference. How many MMA fighters look like zuback?
BTW, if u think steroids/drugs aren't a BIG part of pro longdriving then you probably believe Clemens only took lidocaine and "B12" also.
either he swung slower/less effort or he used a shorter driver (which would produce less clubhead speed with the same perceived effort) to create such a GAP in ball speed.
Assuming a 1.47 smash factor, on his swings that didn't break the glass he was swinging roughly 127mph (assuming a 187mph ball speed).
With the same assumptions above where he did break the glass he was swinging roughly 138mph.
--------------------------
So either he was swinging slower or used a shorter driver, i don't know anyone who can "magically" find 9mph of swing speed when they are swinging as fast as they can. The only people i know who can ramp up their swing speed that much are a few of my friends who do swing in the 120-125 range; their average swing speed tends to be about 5-7mph slower because they swing for control on the course.
But will it help my golf swing????
