Rickie or Dustin?

IIRC, Phil is 1 up or even when going head-to-head with Tiger. Two hall of gamers, two multiple major winners, opposing personas, and basically dead even when they've been paired together... smells like a rivalry to me, no?

I thought Phil-Tiger was great for golf, and I'd love to see another one emerge. As far as Phil-Tiger goes, it seems to me that Tiger has a whole lot more actual wins going head-to-head with Phil (most notably Masters 2001 and Doral 2005). I can't actually remember any Phil wins head-to-head against Tiger, with the exception of the TPC Boston a couple years ago.

The record I saw was them paired together over any day of an event. Only a couple dozen times total, and just couple times at the end on Sunday. Pretty amazing given the number of wins between them. Guess it shows how difficult it is for a pair of golfers to regularly collide down the stretch on a Sunday (and how silly it is for talking heads to keep expecting it to happen).

How frequent were the Sunday head-to-heads between Norman and Faldo? And didn't those two not like each other very much?

Rickie's jacket is white? What a letdown!

I'd love to see A.K. make a run too. Now that's a guy who can really go low (at least in the U.S.).

+1 on AK but I just don't see it happening. He's a little too volatile for the conditions today......now that I say that he will go low.

And for goodness sake I hope Rickie keeps the jacket on. The all orange is just too much and it hasn't worked.

And another thing, how many majors could DLIII have won if he could putt on the weekend?

More than anything, I want to see an exciting finish. It'd be very disappointing if someone (like, I dunno, Dustin) ran away with this thing.

Was Tiger - Phil a rivalry? I thought one had to win something to actually be a rivalry?

Its like the media playing up Steelers - Ravens. Hammer vs Nail.

Kevin, why you gotta be like that. True statement though.

....... Just remember, 80% of the world is covered by water, the rest is covered by Ed Reed.

Whatever, Kevin. I'm actually a Redskins fan. Our rivalry with the Cowboys has held up even though it's been lopsided the past, oh, two decades.

DC for the win. He's been through a lot, with a lot of dignity. He's a tremendous ball striker. And he's part of my favourite image from the Ryder Cup - him and DLIII sitting together on the grass, cigars aglow, watching the final games come in.

That was a proper round of Open golf from Ricky yesterday though.

At this point, I think I'm rooting for Darren to barely edge Dustin out on 18.

congrats to the big man, there will be many pints of the black stuff tonight and a few cigars. would love to see dustin win one soon.

Having been there on saturday, I would have to say that Fowler's 68 in the worst of the weather (my wet weather gear still hasn't dried out yet) was possibly the round of the week. That said, DC played impeccably over the weekend and never gave the chasing pack a chance. It certainly want the weather to start pushing for birdies (just a look at what happened to Phil & Dustin!). Think the best player of the week won, which is kind of the point, isn't it?

I also thought it was funny that, after all the hype, it turns out Rory is a bit of a girl :)

Fowler is great for golf.

At every event I have been to where he is in the field, his gallery is the biggest or nearly so.

That includes the Masters.

Fowler was also developed WITHOUT LINE DRAWING! And his big right lean scares the hell out of the centered pivot crowd.

I sort of dig the orange.

Would you say Fowler and Rory are well on their way to "owning" their swings? I mean I have heard that both
guys rely on feel and don't like to get too technical. A refreshing change imo.

I like the orange as well (besides being a Syracuse Orange fan and former season ticketholder to basketball and football games). It's a great way to market one's self.

I think Dustin has the bigger future. His length off the tee is impeccable and he's actually hit it great this year, his putting has just stunk up the joint, probably cost him about 2 tournament victories this year...it's been that bad.

I love Rickie and think he's great for golf. But 3Jack's right about Dustin vs. Rickie. I think Rickie's swing is too unorthodox for winning bushels of majors.

Maybe the better question is who will win more majors: Rory or Dustin (I vote Rory).

Dustin first has to prove he has the upstairs game. So far he's displayed he doesn't. He wouldn't be the first uber talented professional athlete to be missing the keyest ingredient of them all.

Not a big fan of the head-to-toe orange. Although, given his age, I certainly understand the subconscience influence.

Popularity > results... is it too early to make Kournikova comparisons?:)

At least you could see him coming through the gloom. And it was better than his snow cone look from Saturday.
