Brad had alot of arm swing and a late ish turn going back. Then he had runaway hips, a stall, and a massive catch up move. This made his pivot collapse after impact with a "chase after" move with his right shoulder. It was very difficult for him to dial it back for a 3/4 shot and some other things.
Giving him a "step" on his right foot and more hip turn allows him to soften his transition so he can get the club down and match up his arm swing and body turn thru the ball. Now a late "hump" can add to his arm swing instead of his arms just trying to catch up. His finish looks to be getting better at "running out of gas" as proof of the soft recoil.
This is all very accurate. I'll add that learning to get my right knee to turn in towards my left without my right hip moving out at the ball has been a crucial component. If my right knee stays back (look at impact on the March 8 video), my pivot typically stalls pretty hard and I chase after it a lot. If I allow the knee to move towards the left I get a much better hit on the ball and a much smoother transition.
Right now my main focus in practice is sort of posing impact with what feels like square hips, right knee kicked in, and head back. Then I rehearse what through the ball feels like, with the left arm folding and the clubhead working upwards quickly while the hands go more vertical and less left.
It's getting better, but not quite there. Still get a little "draggy" with the left side through the ball. Hitting a small draw at the moment and I've picked up yardage.
All thanks goes to Brian and Kevin for this. I feel like I'm on the right track
