You guys think that is a slightly weak left hand grip?

It may appear so if you look at the knuckles showing but the thumb placement seems a little on the strong side.

I think thumb placement is a better indication of relative grip strength. Here is Mavers showing his grip with thumb placement directly on top of the shaft but still showing two knuckles.

I dont go by knuckles shown. Hand placement to clubface and where it is in the hand are what i see. Just because you see a certain amount of knuckles shouldnt be the determining factor. Just IMO

I don't like your right hand grip . Not on top enough , it's stronger than it looks. It looks like it's not playing a part in your video but I could be wrong on that one.
But that's just me, I hate strong right hand grips or 'fake' right hand grips.
If you can't swing with a neutral or weakish right hand grip then something is wrong with your swing. A bold statement, but I think it's close. Alot of hackers can't . Maybe lack of pivot , not sure.
Get it more on top and keep it there.
I think most golfers underestimate the role of the right hand in the grip.
It's all left hand this, left hand that .....
blah blah ....
edit on the swing video first post it looks ok.

dannyuk, I couldn t agree more. A strong right hand grip indicates a major flaw in your swing and the "need" for the pacifier that is the strong right hand grip.

Thanks for the input. So for the right hand would you want to judge the strength by the crease between the thumb and forefinger? Is the crease straight up toward the nose a good start?

I worked on the long thumb and stronger grip today at the range and I must say if I did some things right with the path and hands low through impact(I feel a tendency to get a high handle and feel like I stick the toe in the ground--maybe from the ott move), it was very easy to hit it at the target with a straight ball flight and very little hand manipulation.

Suppose it depends on the player. Creases \ vs could mean nothing, particularly the left hand grip where there may need to be a gap.
Go by the palm angles as you place and finish your hands if you want to judge 'strength' of grip.
For the right hand the vs \ crease is always pretty tight for most players so you maybe could use it... right chin is good point.
Whatever, I think for the right hand it's important you keep that lifeline \ fleshy part on top of left thumb. If you then have a decent thumb position I doubt your crease \ vs would be outside your right chin in front of mirror. Maybe a little bit, and would depend on setup \ head position of course.

Very good. I have the left thumb on the right side top of the grip and can get the right hand life line more on top of the thumb. I can really feel that the right wrist will be bent more than I'm used to at the top and into impact and feels to be in a powerful position.

Do you mean something like this is better?Hogan was not the only great player with a weak right hand grip.

Thanks for the vid of Snead's grip and I can see where the right forefinger should be.

Maybe ej was thinking of the sevam(?) video.

I would like anyone to talk about another part of the swing. On the downswing, spktho's head moves forward, it looks like, a foot. Is that not a problem? I believe that this is part of his "carry," but is there supposed to be that much head movement? I ask this question because I am trying to include more carry into my swing and I worry about moving forward too much in my swing.

I have eliminated the movement at one time in my swing journey, but it just feels so un-dynamic. The movement now starts in the take away as I step on my right foot and then goes forward in the transition, but no farther than where it was in the set up and still well behind the ball. I don't think it is a product of the carry, but could be wrong. I'd be interested to hear other views as well.

His head is just realigning in the transition. From there it stays steady through the swivel. A lot of good players make the same move.

I have mp-32's now and am realizing, I can't handle them like I would like to. I am too inconsistent. I like the feel of the forged clubs, but I think I need a cavity backed iron.

I have checked some of the other sites, but Callaway pre-owned beats them--although, I don't know the condition of their "average" rating clubs.

SPKTHO

See if you can still find the Adams A4 irons. Got mine on E-Bay for 350.00 new! Best set of irons I've ever hit. Forged, but they are still forgiving. Def worth a look!

Too horizontal hand path, a steep, stood up shaft thru impact, open faces, too inside out a path, leakage, to name a few.

Ha! Explains some things in my swing!

And obviously mine too! But, I'm going to fix them!

I actually went with Ping G15's and put KB tour shafts in them. Got a demo set for $250 and then spent a bunch on the shafts. Figured if they help a 20 hcp, then they should help a 10.
