The myth that is out there is that Trackman is a fitting tool. Hah, no way it measures data yes, but it is 100 times better as a teaching tool, if anyone is intelligent enough to undersatnd it's uses like Brian, Kevin and co. does.

Brian, I would love to see another 10 minute Trackman video with you working the ball.

Instead of trying to zero-out your path and clubface, I want to see you make swing and setup adjustments that would produce a 5 yard draw, a 10 yard draw, a sweeping hook, a baby cut shot, a 10 yard fade, and a slice, etc.

Any arguments for or against TrackMan Home Studio?

I'm thinking entertainment as well as game improvement.

i think you need at least 12 feet before the ball hits the net/wall for trackman/fscope to be able to calculate carry and spin. i would think the only con would be the putting the little sticker on the ball. would definitely be great for fun and game improvement.

danny, i think the distance is 18 feet to capture even the highest ball speeds...12' would probably be ok for most, but at least 18' to capture all

You'd need a minimum of 25'. 15' from ball to net, and 10' from ball to TrackMan. In this case, more is better.:)

I can see why some would be apprehensive towards Trackman. Most of the launch monitors out there are far, far worse and IMO pretty much worthless. And if you're a good ballstriker or a golfer that feels comfortable hitting a draw or a fade and doesn't want to get away from it, then there's not a big need for Trackman anyway.

I think the issue with a lot of these teachers is that if you are a good teacher with sound teaching philosophies, Trackman will VERIFY your teaching...not denounce it. But it will help students grasp what you are teaching quicker.

Of course, this was explained by Brian in the video for the most part, but people get scared of the thing.

There's a potential of it being 'hazardous' if in the wrong hands. That being said, I think in the end it's actually LESS hazardous because at the very least, you have OBJECTIVE numbers to look at and somebody who is a more proficient teacher can look at those numbers and dissect the issue and prescribe a remedy.

You can't get that from video. And you sure can't get that from 'judging ball flight' with the naked eye as well.

Hello from Vegas!

Been VERY busy in Vegas....

Anyhoo, this thread started taking about TrackMan COST and Technology, and it needed me to be "on" the thread.

So, that portion is in a new thread that is in the "freezer" until Sunday when I can start moderating it.

In this thread, please stay on point—it is about USING TRACKMAN for practice and teaching.

Period.

The people that say that Trackman wouldn't be useful for lessons need to get their heads examined. I have received two lessons on TM, one with Kevin and one with Brian, they were easily the two best lessons I have ever received. The feedback you receive is amazing and invaluable. My swing is so much better then it was. I watched for hours the last few days as Brian worked with golfers on the TM and the results were amazing. You have to be brain dead or dumb not to see the benefit of using TM as a practice and teaching tool. Those that do doubt it, do yourself a favor and attend a GTE or better yet get a lesson from Brian, Kevin or any other of the guys that use it, I know you will sing a different tune.

I also had a lesson with Brian and TM. I agree completely. TM takes takes the guesswork out of the equation - you know exactly what the club, path, etc. are doing! Brian can then zero in on the the fault and formulate a game plan for the solution.
