Revelation!

WOW!

I spent yesterday looking at past posts on the forum and found this one and it seemed that I had a swing similar to Matts old one. I was using a twist away but would pull the club inside, swing flat and hit a lot of pulls and hooks

I was especially interested in the part about using the hips more in the backswing. I had always laboured under the impression this was the antithesis of a good backswing motion having read articles like the X Factor and others

So I headed off to the range last night and worked on a twist away move where I bent my right wrist back straight along the target line and allowed a hip turn to get into my right leg. Felt like a massive lower body turn which I wasnt used to but BANG. I was hitting the ball great, right out the screws. Found the hip turn and wrist motion would get the club to the top without nme having to much else. Found I could shape the ball really easily by setting up differently

In the spirit of not hoping this was a one day range wonder I went and played 9 holes at my course today and shot 1 over..my best ever ( I play off 12)

Fantastic, even chipped this way, getting my hips more active

Now realise ive been doing the wrong thing all these years, stiff lower body, flat shoulder turn, trying too hard to stay connected. By doing a twist away down the target line (i.e. a steeper takeaway) and allowing my lower body to seperate from my arms more .. sheesh ... why isnt this in a book somewhere !

Tks again guys .. cant wait to go and try this all out some more:p

Why isn't this in a book somewhere?

Because my first book isn't out yet.

TIMELINE:
New Shopping Cart

Never Slice Again 2.0
Do It Right 2.0
Building Blocks 2.0
Short Game Video 1.0 (no title yet)
Never Hook Again 2.0

First book

:)

And it will be out when Brian;) I'll pre-order with Amazon:D

Does the forthcoming Never Slice again Video mention hip turn in relation to the Twistway move? That seemed to be the bit I was missing until I read what you worked on with Matt

Funny you should ask...

Never Slice Again 2.0, is getting a final 'work over' by a professional video house in Northern Louisiana.

I JUST got off the phone with the owner, and he says thing are moving along quite well, and I may have something to approve inside of a week.

After all is deemed ready to go, we will compress it for the "WEB VERSION" which will be available the day after we upload it. The web version will sell for $19.99.

They will then produce a master DVD and send me a copy to review and send to our professional DVD Authoring company who will produce the first few hundred copies. Our Beta testers will get theirs shipped out and we will start shipping to everyone else.

The DVD will be $29.99 and it will include the web version, as all of our videos do.

That is AWESOME! Can't wait. Hopefully I will still be able to squeeze some more rounds in before the weather turns ugly. Thanks for the update Brian.

I was just looking at it on World Cat and attempted to put a hold on it. How was the match if you recall and how would you rate Lema's swing? Did he float load?

How do you view video on World Cat??

I would like to see the Nelson vs. Littler episode.

Thanks.

The best place to get those videos is off of the shell golf site . . . they got 'em all.

Takeaway "Swivel"

"MRODOCK"

Using the LCT, at what point did you begin your "roll or swivel" to lay the clubface on plane?

Also, did you feel more or less, later or earlier "release turn" to square the clubface - or did you just let CF do it?

Significant change - I like it. My current backswing plane looks similar to your 'before' but with more hip turn.. When I try to work on moving more to the turned shoulder plane, I feel my hands move away from me in the takeaway. I currently use a RFP for my takeaway but let it work with the natural turn of my torso.

Your comments appreciated.

Thanks - Bruce

Oh, sorry for the confusion, I was trying to reserve them on worldcat. I'm a university student and it's a library service. I can't view them online.

Hi Bruce,

I overswiveled before and believe I still am a bit, therefore, I feel as though I am not swiveling at all in the backswing. I tried to let CF square the face and then past impact I swiveled through the ball. I didn't try to do any swiveling in my swing until after impact. After a few hundred balls I may change. I might work on a bit of twistaway in the takeaway and then hold it through impact, not quite sure yet.

One thing that Jim mentioned earlier in this thread that I believe would be extremely helpful to someone seeking the TSP on their backswing is to feel the right hand moving toward your shoulder very early in the backswing (as though you are flexing your bicep to check out that 18 incher). Since you are such an accomplished player you probably won't have to be concerned with the left arm staying extended, but if it became a problem you might have to incorporate some extensor action.

By the way, my hands DO feel as though they are working away from me and I was quite surprised by how they look when I examined the video. The way I got on a better plane is mid-body hands, lagging club takeaway, feel the clubhead starts way outside. I can't change much of anything without trying to overdo it though.

Any other questions feel free,

Matt

That's great man! I found that the biggest reason for me taking it inside was the path of my arms. I had to keep that right arm more in front of my body. I could take it WAY inside with twistaway.

blehnhard,

Yeah, I am working on float loading. With all the stuff that I was working on I wasn't float loading nearly as well as I can. After this weekend I will likely post a new swing in which I float load significantly better.
