Your right, I do not know all the membership costs. Lets use your numbers, $4000 annual membership fee, $100 entry fee for members. Lets say we play in 25 events so the membership comes out to $160 a tournament. That's $260 for a tournament, what other costs for playing are there?
I won't argue with you about trying to make money on the mini tours, I have looked into them and you better be playing some good golf to make money.
How much is the entry fee?
Sure, lets use the nationwide tour...Whats the costs?
I googled it and couldn't find anything other than the pdf. I understand on the mini tours you are paying bigger fees and really it is not much different than gambling...I was only saying that I could travel and eat for $500 a tournament then add your entry fees on top of that. And that is not really roughing it, it's what the average American calls RVing or camping and I do realize that the pga tour players are probably driving $250,000 buses but the average american is toting a modest travel trailer that cost less than $15,000.
not saying that CANT happen, but when you have to drive 800 miles to get to the next town, saying you drive yourself and made the cut, you might not leave the last town till monday morning........
not to mention, caddie fees, balls/gloves (if not spon) tour van cost, and all the things I listed above a few post.........and it adds up BIG and QUICKLY
plus you need to understand lots of these guys are HEAD CASES, they cant travel in a dually and 5th wheel, they just cant, they are too used to the tongue bath they get from everyone around them to "lower" themselves

No offense man, but you have no clue. Balls and gloves? You think Nationwide guys are expensing their BALLS AND GLOVES on a week-to-week basis? Really?
And what's this about head cases and a tongue bath? You are too much.
Look, most of the guys on the Nationwide Tour have serious money behind them with private sponsors. It's near impossible to play out there without it. They don't live lavish lifestyles like the PGA Tour. They are provided with a nice purse, free equipment, and a chance to move up to the next level. But that's about it.
Here's how it works...
Mini-Tour Golf -
Entry fees make up the purse. The top tours (eGolf, Hooters, Gateway, etc.) all average to a little over $1000 entry fee per event, with membership fees varying from $1000 to $3000. And many events you may not be able to get into unless you've been playing well enough to gain entry. Finish outside the top 30 and you will NOT make enough money to recoup your expenses. The pay out is very top heavy. You cannot make a living playing on mini tours unless you're one of the best. And if you're one of the best you should be moving towards...
The Nationwide Tour -
Congratulations! You have status on the Nationwide Tour. You may have gotten this through Q-School (which is $2500 for pre-qualifying stages and another $2500 for first stage... there are no other fees after that) or Monday qualifying. Many guys will Monday qualify, finish top-25, get into the next event, do the same, and continue to play well enough that come the next reshuffle (where they rank players based on performance) you get exempt into more events with no qualifying required. Expenses come to somewhere between $1500 and $2500 a week between travel (many times schedule restrictions require they fly to events), food, hotels, and caddie fees. Entry fees are minimal comparatively (no more than $350) but the cut is only top 60 of 150 guys. Purses are top-heavy. It is difficult to make a living on the Nationwide Tour, even with "endorsement deals" (which are tiny compared to the PGA Tour).
A lot of the guys are hauling travel trailers or fifth wheels and cook their own food so it is considerable less than your $1000-$1800 estimate.
I just played in the Club Pro in June (missed the cut), but a caddie is $100 per day on the low end. There's $500 in cash if you miss the cut!
Flight $400 (back of the bus)
Hotel $600 (basic)
Meals $300 (we ain't talking Ruth's Chris)
Caddie $500 (great kid who could beat me)
Misc $100 (parking, etc)
Entry $100
Grats $100
There's $2100 and I'm sure I'm missing something.

I am not saying you can't go through the cash pretty quick...I am just saying if a guy was desperate enough to make a run at it on tour he could shave some of the cost....What ever happened to the guys who would sleep in their cars? I loved that golf channel series on the negro golf league even the pga tour when it was first starting out, are their still players out there that want to make it that desperately?
