Stupid argument. It's another reason why golfers get so messed up, what starts first the legs or the hands or maybe my right thumb twitches first or i flex my knees twice or i scratch my a...s first, or.... Death by a million questions.

Proving you have NO IDEA what amount of thought goes into maybe me watching a shot in a lesson and saying nothing.

What is your problem? Why not stay out of threads that dont interest you? Maybe some people find it helpful. You obviously have a disdain for golf instruction and teachers and I cant figure out why?

Not for good instruction and good teachers. First of all pitchers don't take a step back to pitch, their standing on the rubber, they lift their front leg up and pivot around the rear leg.

Also you don't take a step back first
then move your arm/hand/shoulder to throw that's so not right. It's the motion of pulling your arm/hand/ shoulder that causes your legs to move in a pivot to support that motion. Any two year old kid can do it until some expert gets ahold of them and tells them how.

Just two examples of false info that was put out like it's the gospel. That's why it's stupid and screws people up. You may think it helps but it's more of the same old b.s. Now you know why. Get it right.

Greenfree,

You have no idea how many people out there in "I want to play better golf but I have never played any other sport land" there are. A whole bunch of people have to be taught how to use the ground and pivot at all to put a any kind of power into a golf shot.

I agree with that. I'm not saying don't teach people, i'm saying give out the right info if you know it, if not find out the right stuff. Remember correct knowledge is king, i heard that somewhere, could be true.

Kevin was talking about a full windup when he mentioned the step back, which pitchers do when not throwing from the stretch.

This guy was pretty decent, and he's stepping all over the place:

The Ryan Express and The Big Rat Unit, sweet. I could hit Nolan when he's throwing the BP cheese. I've never seen him throw the ball any slower than 80 mph curveballs. Man the Big Rat Unit is ugly. Greenfree.. Do you play sports? just wondering??

Yeah and there's tons of videos both game and instructional where pitchers never step back.

How can anyone say that the arm(s) starts the motion for throwing a ball over say 50 feet with some velocity on it? When hitting a golf ball with a full swing, it is very comparable to throwing a ball. Go out to your nearest full size baseball field and try throwing baseballs from the pitchers mound to home plate, then move back to second base and try throwing baseballs to home plate. You will find that you need your legs to drive and push off the ground to get the momentum necessary to get the arm going fast enough to throw the ball all the way to your target. You can move the arm(s) all you want, but if you don't use your legs first you will be out of sync and not be able to throw to your potential.

You're so wrong on this its a joke. I pitched in college and played every other sport as well. Darts is the worst example and thats two people now that have brought it up. My students hit it so much farther when they internally rotate to start the club back. Its you who needs to get it right.

You would think this would be fairly obvious. But maybe not to someone who's scratching their a** while playing drinking games.

What about the body dynamics in the ultimate throw out action sport?

NICKLAUS to end the debate here!!!!!!!!!! he says he "slings his noodle arms with his ankles-knees-hips starting from the ground up" i believe this is internal rotation using the pivot to sling the arms!!

I would say that both Nicklaus and Hogan's speeches and books on this subject would lend credence to the 'idea' that they and many others start their backswings with their hands, arms, or club.

THAT SAID, the people at Taylor Made using the MATT system, the people at TPI using their 3-D machines, and the K-vest people have never had EVEN ONE instance of the arms/club/body actually starting before the body.

So this is a case of feel versus real, everybody!

Bottom line!

Sorry if this is a stupid question. I feel that I initiate the backswing with the left shoulder. Does this count as internal rotation?

Who said i used darts as an example of how to throw? It's was a joke:D

And proud of it! Takes a lot of co-ordination after a dozen:D And you need to read carefully, i never said you don't pivot, the opposite.
