I could fix these two guys in a day.

Phil in the morning, Tiger in the afternoon.

DO NOT ASK ME WHAT I WOULD DO WITH THEM, DO NOT SAY WHAT YOU WOULD DO WITH THEM IF YOU HAVE BEEN SMARTENED UP ON THIS FORUM EVEN A LITTLE. PLEASE. Pretty please.

If I want to "give away a fix" I'll do it.

I know what he would do. First, he would..."Hey Brian, what's up? I'm O.K., I'm just writing on the forum. No, I'm not saying anything. Wait... what are you doing? Owww! you're hurting my fingers. No...not my computer, I swear I won't.........................

When I asked about what you would do I was (and still am) honestly curious- listening to someone who knows is very valuable--sorry for the break in etiquette.:( I have already learned much in the past few months from this forum. Went out played 9 and shot a 37 last evening and it's been a few months since I've played. After a few months break like I've had I usually would have shot a 39-43 (depending on my short game). I do attribute much of that 37 to things I've learned here. Not to give Brian the big head but I certainly appreciate his advice as well as others on this forum. :D
And as an aside I still think there's a little something up with tiger's knee or back which would contribute to blocks but I digress.

Well....

Since Neil already broke the rules, and Tom has damaged fingers...

At the TOP, Tiger needs to learn not to "lay it off," needs a slightly wider right elbow, and need to get exactly on the Turned Shoulder Plane with a more Johnny Unitas look.

On the downswing, Tiger needs to learn keep the club on the elbow plane all the way past the folow-through, and would benifit from a much more orthodox finish swivel.

He needs to undersatnd the differences in clubface action on his Full Swing and his so-called knock down shots.

In less than a week, Tiger would know why he played good when he did in the past, and what went wrong with Harmon and Haney's flawed stuff.

As far a Phil, he basically need to know he can swing LESS INSIDE-OUT without having to REDUCE TILT or not have to swing ABOVE THE ELBOW PLANE on the downswing.

There is a whole bunch of small things I will keep to myself. ;)

What a fascinating article.

Phil has some of the same pressure afflictions Greg Norman had before he went to Butch. Look for the shorter backswing and likely wider stance, probably more hip rotation instead of slide as well, when Butch takes over.

Smith blames Phil, basically saying he isn't doing what he asks and he, Rick, is left to work on what Phil chooses, which isn't what he himself wants. Surely this means it is time to move on. Ironically Butch might have him do much of what Rick would like.

Interesting too just how much support Couples gives Harmon. One wonders if Smith is a bit unpopular, at least in certain circles.

Lifes tough at the top.

?

I see the Philly Mic-Rick Smith split "article", but nothing about the Tiger-Hany split?? Is that one purely rumor or is there an article about it as well? (not that a written piece gives it total validity). ;)

The "Top"

Life's tough at the top.

Rick Smith.

He rode the Lee Janzen train to the "show," even though Lee's main quality was a great short game.

Rick is very well spoken, is a very good player, and looks good on camera.

But, Janzen's and fellow student's Rocco Mediate's swing was always WAY too inside-out to be consistant at the PGA Tour, and for years has ben trying to make curious changes to Phil's swing—like de-Tilt-ing him a fcouple of years back causing Phil to fall WAY down the rankings.

He is VERY good at figuring out where to stand when Phil will be on camera, though. ;)

I sorta lost respect for Smith when he said—at a PGA Summit—that you were "wasting your time" trying to get a 15 handicapper to pitch the ball like a pro hitting a low skipper—the TGM-type pitch.

I guess HE couldn't get any of them to do it.

and BTW...

Harmon.

I showed him and his brothers the Hogan Print I have with the "Power Golf" sequence. They said "Oh, this is bfore he knew anything." "Yup," I said, "he only won 10 times that year."

He knows the game, knows how to hit differnet shots much better than the average Tour teacher, can play very well, and is likable in a "Man's man" kinda way.

He will "de-lag" Philly Mick, and try to get him much "wider," a technique he has used to teach Jose Maria and Justin Leonard out of the top 20.

The best part, is—in my opinion—he is an upgrade from Smith, even though he doesn't wear a mock turtle as well. :D

Not to metion the one of the best things Harmon ever did was have Don and his son on his staff.

Fascinating insights Brian. It would be even more fascinating to see you with a Woods or Phil. I don't doubt for a second you couldn't have them playing better golf, fast.

Phil maybe, but I'm not sure about Tiger. I could be way off on this, but he seems really stubborn and arrogant when it comes to his swing. He might be the best player, but might not be a great student. I'm not saying BM couldn't help him, but I'm referring more to the "fast" part.

I understand what you imply. From Smiths comments in the GD article Phil might not be the easiest to convince either. Maybe both should coach themselves, right down to the bottom of the 10.

Bahahaha. That's almost as good as the Trevino line...:D

WTF......why would they have such a problem with the Power Golf sequence??

Is it really true. Tiger and dumb dumb split, Haney ruined O'meara and was doing a good job of letting the world back in against Tiger, glad to see him go.
