Just Curious...

I have always subscribed to the idea that the teacher should be responsible for the progress of their students.

I also believe they should admit when they have been teaching something that has been proven to be wrong, or that they don't believe anymore.

I take a fair amount of criticism from folks that say I am too critical of other teachers and their methods I don't agree with.

Fair enough.

But where or where is this list?

The one that includes:

1. Where are all the threads/posts/interviews of other teachers taking blame for students who leave, don't play well, or play poorly?

2. Where are all the hreads/posts/interviews of other teacher saying they used to teach A but they were wrong and now teach B?

Didn't Haney say something about Barkley, something like, "I never taught him how to take it to the course." Not much of a mea culpa, that's for sure. And it also seems wrong because they spent half the time on the show playing together.

A longer thread might be all the teachers who insist on teaching something that is wrong, despite contrary evidence!

The great thing about non-science based instruction is never having to admit you are sorry. Ever. My patients are sick? More leeches!

Finding new students is the only issue.

Imagine if there was a registry for fraudulent golf teachers. I'd post a couple comments about the guy who spent three months trying to match me up to Tiger Woods on a line drawing program. And I'd have a few comments for the online guy with his own notable website teaching a single method who, in person, turned out to be a total fraud. The entire lesson for two hours was "hit down on the ball more." At the end of the lesson he told me, "most people come for one lesson and never come back, I fix them in one day." The sad thing? I think he believes that people never return because he is brilliant.

Me, personally, I used to be a gullible consumer. Then I educated myself. And for the first time in my life got valuable instruction.

Thank goodness for Brian and Kevin and the rest here.

I've had a few...

If you've been teaching long enough, you have had some blunders, changes in concept, etc. No doubt.

I'll provide the gore later. I have to watch the kiddies for a while.

I had a year membership at Golf Tec and didnt get any better. Thats 52 lessons/1 a week. They couldn't figure it out because my swing looked good on video. In the end they told me "it was all in my head". I didn't go back for more lessons but they still call me every couple of months trying to sell me more lessons. $2700 down the drain.

I am waiting for Hank Haney to show up and admit he can't teach the best golfer in the world to hit a fairway with a driver.

Oh, wait, I guess that isn't going to happen.

Man, people really pay 2700 for a whole year of instruction? That seems like a lot to not get better.

A guy in my Saturday foursome has paid weekly to a branch of the same place for 18 months. I am dying to suggest he buy a NHA2 video but he is dedicated to line drawing video teachers. Zero improvement so far.

List Update...

Ok, we are doing good. We have two so far.

1. Haney said he couldn't get Barkley to bring it to the course.

2. Flick said square-to-square hurt his teaching.

2. Where are all the hreads/posts/interviews of other teacher saying they used to teach A but they were wrong and now teach B?

I have no idea about threads but my teacher just today said he could not believe some of the junk he was teaching only a few years ago. I don't think he has posted on this site in a long time.

I am sure junk is a little harsh but I just wanted you to know there are some out there even if they don't post here.

Mike Hebron told me "The inside moves the outside" is total junk. No lie. He is a stand up guy who will admit when things are wrong. Although i never really knew what he thought was wrong.

Honest man.

Tell him MUCH MORE junk producing truth is coming.

....Not to mention what he did to Tiger's knee

What about the fact that Hank writes a book called "The only golf lesson you'll ever need".......and then a few years later....AFTER becoming Woods' coach....he releases yet another book titled "Essentials of the swing". I thought when we bought the first book it would be the only lesson we would ever need. Lo and behold, it seems that it was not the only lesson. So, my question is....did Hank come to the realization that his first book was wrong and flawed....and therefore it was NOT the only lesson we would ever need.... or....was he capitalizing on the fame he now enjoys by being Tiger's "coach"? Hank wouldn't write a book just to sell books would he? He wouldn't capitalize on his new fame would he................hmmmm.

Give me a break...

Our prayers are answered - Jim Mclean's $1200 power Line DVD - get it now!

Mclean says:

"There is only one critical line in a golf swing and it happens in the forward swing not the backswing. In my research I see that there are two edges, or corners, of a correct and powerful swing. I've never seen anyone speak or write about the ground-breaking information in this DVD. I call it the Powerline. Teachers have been operating in the dark regarding the release action of great players. With the purchase of this DVD you will step into a new age of golf swing enlightenment!"- Jim McLean

The reason this DVD is priced at $1,200 is because the information inside the DVD is only for true students of the golf swing. Jim doesn't want just anyone to buy this DVD and in fact he would rather that no one purchase this DVD. It has 35 years of Jim's research and vital trade secrets which he has used to gain an edge in the teaching world! It can be your's, but you'll have to pay the price!

Price $1,200.00

Jay, sorry to hear about your investment not going so well. I can see the alure they present to most golfers.

1. Get OUTSIDE. That's where the game is played.
2. Hit balls off of turf, or better yet, a fairway bunker. That will sort out your low point and teach you a few things about impact. The only thing that matters.
3. Don't get enamored with 24 degree this and 13 degree that...who give's a rats.
4. What I like about trackman, they aren't measuring your hips and tilts, they are measuring the club. Furyk makes Trackman sing, but I'd bet the boys at GolfTec might want to adjust a 22 herr and a 13 there...
