Mac Doesnt Rate Tiger!

Now that's just plain silly. Tiger does not hit irons 285 plus--except downwind on a very fast/hard fairway as in the British...come on let's have some strive for accuracy here.

Maybe I exaggerated a bit. Here's a list of Tiger's "safe distances":

http://www.thegolfchannel.com/core.aspx?page=19014&dv=1843275&select=373

I would bet the farm that Tiger has the ability to beat his 1 iron more than the 245 that is listed. I'm a slouch and constantly rip my 4 iron 240 and my 19* 260 yards. My point was that Tiger can play a control game as well as anyone that ever lived.

My personal impression with Mac & Morad; he keep morad in secret, more secrecy than Great Ben Hogan since he produce 2 golden books, Mac does not share with "outsider" especially minority like TW (one of morad student said TW's dad was rejected before he went to Butch?), I hope this is wrong issue since he has Asian wife, am I right (?).

Golf is hard enough to understand due to the nature of golf swing speed, small club face and shaft, stationary target on the ground etc. Teaching golf need a good communication and understanding, openness, dedication and honesty, THIS is to make your student better, not to drag their time and money, after all you have better success and fruitfully. I like Mr. Manzella approach to golf teaching, his method, his self believe to open up his mind and challenge every body to different kind of golf issue, seem to me he doesn't care about the material things, golf is above all to him, his dedication to golf is second to none.

I'm new here and I didn't know Manzella personally (thanks to Mr. Jeffrey Mann links) and I'm not speaking English as my first language, but I tell the truth : " YOU ARE LUCKY PERSON TO BE HERE !"

Good to see you all and be patience to read my English, I only teach my son in my retirement years.

Brian. :D This is an old one...........and you have given a good argument........

But to give this my best shot.....and bring this thread back from the dead.........I say:

What about if this test was more biased toward consistency than distance...? Perhaps fairways hit vs. 300 yard carries. Or perhaps change it to 275ish yard carries.....

...which (playing with modern equipment and under modern conditions) may not completely eliminate guys like Hogan and Nelson.............which may or may not be silly.:p;):)

-Paul

You may like Tiger, or you may not, but he is the ONLY guy EVER, who could do it all. Here is my elimination argument.

STEP 1: Take everyone on the planet—ever—who could stripe it on the range, hit all the shots, chip and putt like a demon on the practice green.
(approx. 100,000 golfers)

STEP 2: Have to have won 1 PGA TOUR event (100's and 100's)

STEP 3: Has to have won a Major (dozens and dozens)

STEP 4: Go to a hole with a 300 yard carry, at SEA LEVEL, if you don't make it across on you first ball, you are out. (3 dozen tops)

STEP 5: Go to a firm shallow green, like 17 at Pebble. Go back to 230 yards (modern equipment), have 'em hit 10 balls. If one ball is short, you are out, and you have to fly it on and hit the green with 6 balls min. (12 or less)

STEP 6: Go to a tricky elevated green. like one at Winged Foot. Place 10 balls in all sorts of places—bunkers, high rough, downhill green running away, under the lip, etc. You have to get 7 out of 10 up and down, three straight times. (5 or less)

STEP 7: Go to the recently redisigned #8 green at Valhalla Golf Club (site of the 2008 Ryder Cup). Put a hole on each mini-level (about 4 of them) and make a 10 hole putting course going every which way. You have to score 20 or less, two times out of three. (2 golfers max.)

STEP 8: Go to #15 and #16 at Cypress Point. With 10 shots on each hole, you have to get a total of 6 shots inside 10 feet, with at least 1 being on #16, but...you have to finish all the balls and shoot at least 10 under. You have 10 chances. (Tiger wins, but it was probably over a few STEPS ago)

Birdieman,

Hogan and Nelson are dead. Tiger would pull out his 3 wood and rip it 280 down the middle. Some people just have the goods, and will find a way to win. Tiger is the real world Harry Potter :D

I knew someone would say that! It's a hypothetical test first of all.........so we can bring people back from the grave.

Tiger very well may still win The Test 2.0.....and the title of Most Complete Player Award. If nothing else, my post was meant to bring balance.

Harry Potter is a weiner.

if you're going to get all hypothetical, then why not hypothesize who would win more often (Nelson, Hogan, Snead, Woods, and...Mac (lol, what I joke)) in 10 Masters, 10 Opens, 10 US Opens, and 10 PGAs, over their best 10 years. The person who wins the most is the best. Period. HOFG is more than about having the shots. It's about managing yourself to peak at the right time, to execute under stress at the most crucial moments, managing your body, etc., over a long period of time.

Hey man............it would be hard even for me to bet against Tiger.......for any reason other than foolish pride................heh.......

But that would quite the contest. (BTW you forgot Nicklaus)

Pick a winner?

Pick a name outta a hat???

Yes, I forgot Nicklaus, Trevino, Palmer, Miller, etc.

I would pick Tiger easily (under my hypothetical situation).
