Hogan's head moves a little, then stays there.

Nice. Look at the shadow of his head. Pretty stable.........

Hogan's head moves to his right (away from the target) about 1-2 inches from his recoil of the forward press to about the first 12 inches of his clubhead going back.

Prepping for the 1956 US Open; looks to me like a pretty fit 44 year old! He tied for second, behind Middlecoff, after missing a short putt on the 71st hole.

BTW, I don't see anything "anemic" about this action, or any other reason to contend that the "Power Golf" version is "better".

People need to drop this arguement already, i respect your opinion that you feel it was better. However Hogan HIMSELF felt that his power golf version was the best he ever hit it.

So essentially you are disagreeing with the own man's opinion, which again is fine, but drop it already.

You need to get your facts straight. Hogan said on several occasions in the '50's (following victories at the Masters and US Open) that he was hitting it better than ever. You can look it up. Middlecoff observed first hand that Hogan hit the ball better in 1950 than in 1948. You can look that up, too. Herbert Warren Wind reported the same thing in the '50's. Were Hogan, Wind and Middlecoff lying? Don't think so.

I've seen the interview where Hogan talks wistfully about his late '48/early '49 GOLF GAME, not BALLSTRIKING, and I can understand why: Hogan dominated the tour in the late '40's, and his winning percentage in the non-majors went down dramatically after the accident, even though his winning percentage in the majors skyrocketed. But, as I hope we all know, ballstriking alone doesn't win tour events. And, when you stop holing putts, it won't win majors, either.

One more thing: please, don't put words in my mouth. I did not say one swing was better than the other. I said I don't see any reason to say that the Power Golf swing is better than the '50's swing.

Good lord.....I think it's pretty obvious you are gonna have to agree to disagree.....right??? You really feel it that important to go over all this again?

I really don't think anything's gonna come of bringing up the same arguments...

...

BTW that's Hogan alright. I will take either swing thanks.

And thanks Leo.

MEH I posted the video where Hogan said that he knew that his post-accident swing wasn't any good. I love his hand action in that sequence, it's similar to mine.
