Right you are. Contradicts what's printed on my tickets - but I guess that's either a sequencing issue, or the R&A is trying to discourage phones without actually having to operate a massive left luggage facility at the gate.

They changed it a couple of months ago, after the tickets were sent out. You can use your phone anywhere on course for texting and Web, but only designated areas for calls. Video and photography is forbidden everywhere (although I wounder how strict they'll enforce it).

If its anything like last year I'd be more worried about my phone getting waterlogged!

Just realised, this time next week I'll be there. Get in the hole!
