wow, that was bad!

You can watch it on the website.

watch 3:03 and 4:03 and look at the ball speed and contact data. Also notice that the club speed data has been removed as well as the club path data for the second shot

He hits the ball 12mph harder and then explains that the carry is longer due to left spin

Also look at the impact data : his first shot was not even close to the sweetspot :D

I did notice the missing clubhead speed, but in the moment, thought it was just an error.
Good catch, obviously edited out. If the facts don't fit the storyline, hide the facts and
hope people won't notice.

I saw all that.

If you have to dumb it down, even to the point of it being misleading or incorrect, why even get into it?

You know the Golf Academy live was probably scrapped because they would have instuctors outside of their box that contradicted their Acadamy instructors. I liked listening to them because you would get different information instead of the scripted programmed Breed style. Of course some was BS or crap but at least you could tune in if it was someone that you were interested in hearing.

Oh well, I don't even tune in to the Golf Channel for the Big Break anymore (soap operas) just for live tournament coverage.

Islandgolf629, thanks for that link!

PK calling Arnold a cheater and trying multiple times to get him...interesting and poor form. PK must have had a big thing about following golf rules. Ironically enough, what he fought for (COR and range finders), the USGA/RA ultimately gave up on.

Saw they had other transcripts online too. Nice.

Breed said the key to good putting is to only have 1 axis of rotation. How can 1 solid golf ball have 2 axis' of rotation?

Also, when will side spin be eliminated from golfing vernacular?

Franz, I just watched Breeds shots...that was ridiculous.

The youtube segment on spin (from the same show) was also ridiculous.

If you have to dumb it down, even to the point of it being misleading or incorrect, why even get into it?

I like Breed.

He makes me laugh.

Why is everybody giving him a hard time?

I am not a big fan of his style, just my preference. I don't like people yelling at me, even if it is through the TV.

And, although I think he is better than some as a major spokesman of golf instruction, I believe he is missing some knowledge and ignorant of some science of the golf swing.

Yeah I will certainly admit that the content of his show is not in the same galaxy as a lot of the content on this forum.

I figure TGC has a marketing department that does polling and research on their core demographic and then Breed is made to shape his instruction to appeal to these people.

I never watch the show unless I leave the TV on and it comes on in the background while I'm doing something else.

He's pretty funny though for whatever reason. :D

My take on Breed's first segment about spin last night was that he tried to appease both groups of the ball flight people. The majority of that first segment was based upon actual ball spin of a L-to-R and R-to-L shot. Very little went into actually talking about what causes those two shots. In doing so, he actually came across as a bit murky.

To those who think Breed has no clue what he is talking about check out this video:

At least in my opinion it seems that Breed maybe aware that the correct ball flight laws exist, but for whatever reason has no desire to lead the revolution against the old ball flight people.

right bolt...........and the golf channel audience is interested in science?????

Why is everybody giving him a hard time?

He isn't good at what he teaches for the most part. I remember around the PGA he was analyzing Tiger's swing and it was some of the biggest bunch of BS, 'make stuff up as you go' moment you'll ever witness. And to top it off, it was from a horrible angle with Tiger on a sizeable slope, with the ball above his feet. And this is from Breed, the same guy that wrote a book about using a camera and camera positioning for your golf swing.

He yells way too loud. I can't explain how bad it is, but I used to have a girlfriend who worked at a local TV station for the news and the new anchors actually speak quite loudly because they have to. It doesn't show up on TV that much though. But for Breed to get complaints about his yelling is just unimaginable how somebody could yell that loud and not think anything is wrong.

He knows the laws of ball flight, only because he's memorized them. He can't put them into practice at all and he's the type of instructor who says if you want to draw the ball you need 'release the club' which in his case just means turn your wrists over at impact. I could've gotten AJ Bonar for that piece of advice.

And he charges $500 for an hour lesson.

He might be a nice guy for all I know, but as an instructor I simply don't bother with him too much.

What good is knowing the right information, if you don't give it out to your audience?

"Dumbing it down" is one thing, but flat-out omitting information is not doing your viewers any service. I wonder when the Golf Mags and similar shows will finally get it...

I think he's like the student that doesn't really care and just studies to get the answer right, but doesn't fully understand the answer.

I don't think it's about a revolution. He got the job because his brother is a big wig in cable television industry. If he were to lead a revolution, I highly doubt he'd get fired over it and in fact, I think TGC would market him even more.

I never said they were.......I am a golf instructor and I am. I just don't trust that he works at getting it right, and although he may be better than a lot it is not for me.

Obviously the audience likes him so good for him, I just wish it were someone else. Martin Hall would be better in my opinion, maybe he could win the contest and take Breeds show! LOL
