i agree when tiger was sixteen he seemed even longer than he is now he used to cream it i remember him hitting 300 yard 3 woods all day at the us amateur. i think the strength allows you to support the faster swing better and control it better. also jim i was wondering what altitude do you live at.

I live in Chicago...roughly 580ft above sea level.

Brian,

Cricket is the game most closely resembles golf (even more so than baseball). yes that is the game they play in England and other commonwealth countries......

The answer you are looking for is probably frisbee (sp???), left handed.

Thanks jpvegas, appreciate the reply. The book Sports Power by David Sandler is pretty interesting. The author breaks down the various forms of physiological output needed to be effective at various sports. He figured golf was 95% speed. It helps to be stronger in order to create more speed, but it certainly is not a requirement to be fast. He has periodized plans to gaining more speed, might work on strength for a few weeks, power for a few weeks, then speed as an example. Interesting work, and is consistent with your comments on Michelle Wie, jpvegas.

Brian I'm drawing a blank right now. I can think of different activities in different sports that involve rotation, i.e. tennis, baseball batting, throwing sidearm, boxing. Any other hints?

Pong?

Ping-pong, squash, raquetball, discus-throw, shotput, tree-chopping, whip-cracking, bowling, javelin, lacrosse, cricket, polo, cattle-rustling, sumo, wrestling, martial arts, figure skating, gymnastics, ballroom dancing, volleyball, jai-alai,,,
