Ok, guys and gals....

What is the SECRET to clubhead speed that club throwing will teach you to do.

(Hint: I have said all of this many times before)

here is my guess

You are using the pivot to provide some wallop instead of a pivot that just transports the power package This gives you more throw out.

Hammer throw correct answerer!!!

Hard to throw a club far without PIVOT plus LAG(that would be accumulater lag by the way)

Is that your final answer?

Never did get the pearl on this topic. Maybe its been said many times before but I wasn't around to hear it.

I`ve never seen a small person in the long drive contest

What I have notice being in sports all my life. I found that in baseball or softball the long hitters hit the ball long in golf and the not long hitters dont hit long in golf. The 250ft hitter 300ft hitter and the 350ft hitters have the same parallel in golf....joe

PS: How about tossing a folding chair across a basketball court???

Small people?

Bobby Schaffer and Mike Finney.

Neither move the scales hardly at all.

But they have AXIS TILT, LAG, TRIGGER DELAY and a QUICK PIVOT.

They DON'T:

1. Have their heads in the middle of their feet the whole swing.

2. Have the hands PERVERTEDly too high at address.

3. Use the PERVERTED hands forward only address position.

4. Use a double shift

;)

Do you have videos of those guys on MPEG's? Remember I only have a PC at work and cannot view MOV's or those MWV's. Thanks

But they do use Double Shifts, no?

Distance and Club Throwing

OK, Brian, I like the idea of throwing a club. I don't like to go get it so I added an elastic bungie cord about 20 feet long. The first throw was fine but the second took out my wifes car windshield. Thankfully, it was hers and not mine.

On another note. I have the Momentus Power Hitter (310) and I love that club for increasing clubhead speed. It is pretty new and I got it for F'day so I have only hit balls with it twice but I do swing it every day. When I first got it, I averaged a speed of 110-120 mph with my driver. Now after a few weeks, I average 120-132 mph and feel like I have much better control.

This thing is certainly heavy but it has weights in the shaft and head so it doesn't feel too bad. You can get one a little lighter.

I love that you can hit with it (but the orange color draws folks to stand around behind you on the range which I hate).

I used the Speed Stik but you have to use that thing on a more horizontal motion which I don't like much.......

My stats are, 5 feet 11 inches, 189 pounds, 100 sit ups in 2 minutes, 60 push ups in 2 minutes and run about 30 miles per week. Not strong to be sure but do drive on par with my weight lifting buddy (who is a total hitter).

I can say this, my forearms and hands took a beating the first week I swung this thing but now it is not an issue. Plus, I don't use my glove anymore (hands have toughened a bit).

Good luck.

PS: I don't get any money from these folks (my wife bought it for me for F'day) but I do like it. I also endorse Rover Golf stuff (no kickback there either).

Have fun.

LD proven

I recently visited a clinic with the #1 or #2 ranked European long driver.

One of his practicing thangs was indeed to throw clubs.

He hit the ball with his tuned driver and regular balls

- No wind
- Flat terrain
- A bit chilly
- DAMP fairway

We measured his longest drive that day to a whopping 368 meters. Only thing was he spread the balls A LOT both sides. Used a lot of wrist action and definetely hit UP on the ball.

I would never want his swing, but his length - ok.

momentus power hitter

Do you get the same distance with the power hitter? Another words is the swing speed reduced by the weight of the club? The swing chain group feel that if you can't swing your arms and hands as fast as a regular swing you do not develop the fast twitch muscles which is necessary to increase speed unless of course your hitter. This is is similar to a sprinter pracitce is short high speed bursts and avoid slow long distance running. This appears to be the direction training is going. Rumour has it Michele Wie is extremely weak but her flexibility more than makes up for it.

My opinion is the natural balance of strength and flexiblility and good golf technique is ideal overall.

If the momentus power does not reduce the swing speed by much it could be a great thing!!

Momentus Question

You do lose some distance with the Power Hitter but only about 30 yards or so (for me). I do find that I tend to draw the power hitter after about 10 balls or so which then translates to my regular driver.

The big thing for me is that my regular driver feels really, really light after using the heavy driver for 10 to 20 balls. You can also really feel the lag pressure on the heavy driver and then it is easier for me to feel it on my regular driver too.

The only thing I didn't like was the DVD that came with it. Not the best in the world but I've seen worse......but not by much.

Is this then the SECRET to clubhead speed that clubthrowing can teach you? (discounting the typo at #4)
