Manzella Grip:

For a right hander...

Top hand: right hand turned upside down like a lefty using a long putter, thumb on top of the grip

Bottom hand: Left hand low enough to have the right hand braced against the left arm.

Very hard to yip or pull....

The Stallion (or scallion in some parts) once made 62 10 footers in a row to win a contest this way.

Also shot 7 under for 9 holes

"Here today - gone tomorrow"

Damon - title says it all.

Brian - I have tried them all except the cross legged, cross handed, standing on my head. I have done the "hammy" style both with the Hammy putter and with the SC Newport 2. I seem to hit a lot of sweet spots with the hammy style and the NP2 but that was the stroke I missed that Sunday putt with - last time it was used that day.

My son swears by the "belly with the claw" and he can putt lights out. I have used the belly some this year with flashes of good putting, but the same thing happens on the short putts - putter head will not go past the ball.

What is the "BM putting grip" ?

Thanks - Bruce

pushing the ball

Brain,

I’m having problems pushing the ball to the right. I’ve gone back to working on the basics starting with the Manzella grip. Know working on the never slice twist away when I execute the swing I have a nice high draw action. Problem is that when I try to use my pivot to power the swing I leave the face open. When I concentrate on the number 3 pressure point starting the swing I hit nice shots.. But doing this I feel I only half the power. I’ve been working on using the towel pop drill. Do you have any other suggestions?

thanks for twistaway, has changed my swing in many many ways without
really trying to change them if you know what I mean.I think the subconc. can just figure it out when you have the clubface in better positions.still
curious about that bounce back drill though?

The Grip

Looks like we crossed - I will give it a try (better than sticking my thumb up my a$$ which was next in line).

Actually had one round of 9 holes this year with 9 putts - 7 1 putts, 1 2 putt, and 1 chip in (neat little 32).

Thanks - Bruce

Funny,

Lots of people with this same problem lately....

How do you START the swing with the #3 PP?

Impact (Initial Location)

Brian

I get inside aft for impact but do you try hit below the equator? I tried that today with some pretty good success on the range.

Bruce,
Remember Faldo about 15 years ago. He went through a period where he 'over emphasised' keeping his head still through the putting stroke. I found this a wonderful way to de emphasise results and encourage process thinking.

I do think long term you have to believe in a technique

BOUNCE BACK DRILL:

Go to the top very carefully....

Take the club to the MAX TRIGGER DELAY POSITION carefully...

go back to the top NORMAL SPEED...

Hit it.

Well, you are SUPPOSED TO hit the ball below the equator...that's how you get it AIRBOURNE....:D :)

But, are you trying to hit down on it, or "pick it off"??

Damon - I have been pretty much of an 'arc' putter most of my life - have been trying some STST lately (hence the switch to a face balanced Corza Monza from the NP2 at times).

My best efforts come on the really hard putts - I can really hit some great putts in the 10' to 15' foot range if it is a really difficult putt.

I putted for almost 25 years with an old Bullseye Flange exclusivley - never took another putter on the course - got me thru Sr Tour School at the end of 92 - then I fell prey to all of the "try this" you get on tour. Still have the Bullseye and go back to it from time to time.
